Jessica Simpson

Ok, since I've been curled up in my blanke****ching tv all morning, I've seen several reports about Jessica's weight gain. Obviously she has gained weight. In fact, she said a few months ago that she was 40lbs up from her lowest weight, but that she felt good about herself and how she looked. Now she's being blasted in the media as being "fat" due to the latest pics of her. I see this issue from so many angles~I feel bad for her b/c she's in the public eye and everything she does is scrutinized. I understand that right now she might now be thrilled with her weight and looks either. I think that makes her human. We all have our ups and downs (literally and figuratively). I also feel she bears part of the blame for our society's views on weight(not personally, but in general)~when she was in The Dukes of Hazard she was in her best shape ever~she trained hard for a long time to build and maintain that body~but she was out there prancing around in next to nothing, showing off her stuff and flaunting it left and right. It would have been difficult for anyone to maintain that physique for the long haul. I don't think everyone should be a size 2, but I also feel like we all have some responsibility to ourselves to do the best that we can. She has unlimited resources at her disposal and I'm sure after this week she'll be back on track and get some of the extra pounds off~it takes work just like it does for all of us! Anyway, on one side my heart goes out to her b/c I understand her struggle and on the other side I feel that a lot of stars contribute to our scued view of what's beautiful, but when the tables are turned on them, they aren't happy about it. Any thoughts???

I haven't seen the whole thing and haven't a clue whether she feels hurt or angry at the way she's being portrayed - whether she takes to heart the "talking heads" - whether it's her philosophy that what they say isn't important, but being in the limelight is - whether she is comfortable with her sizze of not - so much I don't know.  I can only wish for her, as I do for all of us, the she keep in mind that scales and the size we wear only is an indicator of mass - not of worth - and that's not always an easy thing to do! 

I do know it seems pretty obvious that one of the trade offs for fame is lack of privacy.  At some point I think most everybody who is "famous" in way or another is forced to make a decision as to whether the price of that fame is too high to be worth it.  Now, I have to make a lot of decisions - but that's one I've been spared

LOL, thankfully I too have been spared that decision! I SO agree that size, weight, etc do not measure our worth~its what's on the inside of a person that truly matters!

I know how hard my struggles have been.  so it must be so difficult for those in the public eye because they report when they have a hang nail.  Who know what she is really going through.  Just wish the best for her.

I agree and I do feel really bad for her. I certainly wouldn't want to be in the spotlight that much before or after surgery! Hopefully they will just leave her alone and move on to the next "hot topic".

Personally, I don 't think she has a problem.  She is a happy, curvy Size 8.   Now since when is an 8 a bad thing?

I saw a whole bunch of pics of her and to be honest from the angles that they were taken she could be a 2 and look heavy.   The camera has much to do with how we look.

I don't know how tall she is but I am sure she is not short and she weighs 135 pounds according to all the reports I heard yesterday.  I even think it will be in the this weeks People magizine.

No wonder our kids have various eating disorders when a size 8 is considered fat!

As long as she and hubby/bf/whatever she has right now, is happy with her size, let her alone.   The Papperazi has nothing better to do these days I guess.

Oh, I know. the papperazi are relentless!!!! I do feel bad for her, I just wonder how stars feel after they have been a part of perpetuating that only size 2 is beautiful once they're not a size 2 anymore. I hope they just leave her alone and move on to the next thing soon!
