I have an Idea

HI all,

I have been reading posts across OH for the last hour.  I have seen patterns that makes me ask myself a serious question.  How do "normal" folks preceive food.  I am going to throw out a challenge to everyone.  Talk to 2 to 3 friends, coworkers, people you know,  who you feel are within normal weight range and appears healthy and ask them some pointed questions.

I think we can get a good list together.  Then, after that is done, compile our answers and just see what happens.  I am willing to take all the responses you have gathered.  I am very curious.  What do you all think?

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Hi Paula,

Great idea.  I'm all for it.  It will be fascinating and VERY helpful.

Do you want us to add to this thread?  If so, I can bump to the top of the message board periodically (you might have to remind me!!) so it stays among the top posts for easy posting by other BOTTers.

Thanks for volunteering to compile our answers.  This will be interesting.  I look forward to the responses.

Yes please do.  How do you think we should get the questions together?  How long should we run the "survey"?  We could do this OH wide, but that may be overwhelming.  What do you think?

Paula,  before surgery, it used to drive me nuts to go out to eat with my niece and her family.. they always left so much food behind.  They didn't order an extra amount but they would stop eating when they were done (wether it be full or just done)  Most times they didn't take left overs home because they knew they would not eat them and would just throw them away at home.   I would find myself sometimes taking home their left overs or picking form their plates (the things we do and/or did)

Post surgery I now leave food behind .. I only take leftovers when I know I will use them.. they sometimes last for more than one meal at home.    As much as I don't want to waste food, I now do as they do and eat only what I need...   its ok to not be a memeber of the clean plate club.    Also, This is not a tip from the healthy eaters.. but I've become much better at not eating the table appetizers ordered... i.e, loaded fries or onion rings...etc.. when I go out w/a group they normally order table appetizers to share..   I might have ordered healthy for me but the group food always called me in.. then i'd feel horrible for caving in.  That no longer happens ... In fact last night I was out for dinner and one friened orderd the loaded fries ..didn't even think of sampleing them..  and I was a fry fanatic.
