Back On Track Together
Seriously having a problem...
I have been BOTTing for a little over two weeks. To date I have lost 10 lbs., which is great. The last few days I haven't felt well. My stomach has been acting up and just feeling blahhh.. My husband asks me today, why aren't you eating? Good question! The only thing is that I am just not hungry, at all! Do you think that I have gotten over my head and belly hunger? They say that if you do something over a few weeks that it finally sinks in... I feel like I did when I had my surgery 9 years ago. The thought of food makes me sick! Have I gone over the top?
Thanks,
Deb
Thanks,
Deb
Deb, I'm not sure but I do know you need to eat to lose.. There is some magic in that process where if you eat to little your body goes into starvation mode and stores so you don't lose. If you eat to much you gain.. and if you eat the right amount of calories and exercise the right amount of time you lose and / or maintain. Writing that it sounds like goldilocks and the three bears. When you journal your food do a calorie check and see where you are..
Have you had a blood panel done lately? just to see where you are ... especiall with calcium and protein. Losing weight is great but staying healthy is the best.. right ..
Hope this is helpful... Maria

Hi Deb,
Congrats on your 10 pounds and little over two weeks of BOTTing with us.
I'm wondering if you have a stomach bug or something. When you say it is "acting up" that sounds like a possible stomach bug. That could also explain why you aren't eating too if that has been going on for just a couple of days.
Unfortunately, I don't want to bear negative news about head hunger. Head hunger truly doesn't have anything really to do about food. Head hunger is from emotions that are uncomfortable and we want to take the edge off or numb with food. Head hunger comes from emotions that arise just in life, people and situations that arise.
That being said, it takes three weeks to form a habit. With it being a little over two weeks of BOTTing, I'd say that you have developed the BOTTing habit of eating healthfully. You've also created the momentum of success for yourself in having day after day after day, etc. of BOTTing. Just like rolling down a hill, once you get going it becomes more of a natural roll!
Lastly, make sure you are eating. If you're not feeling hungry for a few days and you're not physically ill with the flu or a bug, you need to call your doctor. In order to lose weight and maintain that loss, you need to eat. Your body needs to be nourished just like your car needs fuel.
Please let us know how you're feeling and what you find out. I hope you feel better.
Take care, Cathy

1. When has being "tummy" hungry ever had anything to do with whether or not we ate?
2. You are eating to live now - hopefully, not living to eat.
3. Sorry but . no, we never "get over" being "head hungry" when the old things that stressed us still stress us and the old foods which tempted us still tempt us. With time we just don't go there as often and when we do go there, we don't stay as long. We learn to manage it.
4. By not eating because you are not feeling hungry, you are setting yourself up for a major problem - when you do feel hungry (and you will) you will be ravenous and will eat everything you can find.
5. By not eating your energy level will fall and it will be difficult for you to exercise because you are so tire.
6. We MUST have our protein and water - EVERYDAY Would you think you could drive your car without putting gas in the tank just because the guage didn't show Empty for some reason? Protein and water are as VITAL to us as gas is to a car.
7. My guess is you are so excited now that you are a succesful BOTTer that a part of you is terrified it won't last and, like in the old days, you are taking the "I won't eat" approach to being safe. Could that be?
I, too am experiencing feeling as I did 3 yrs ago when I had my by pass. But it isn't magic - it is because this is the most remarkable group of people ever - they are so caring, so supportive and so accepting - AND I allow all of that to become a part of my thinking.
Thank you so much for trusting us enough to reach out and ask for help. We are here for you - just let us know how we can.
WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER, YES WE CAN and the fact is WE ARE DOING THIS TOGETHER, YES WE ARE.
How about this - I'm urging you to EAT - you'll have to admit that's a novel concept for us
Have a find BOTT Sunday

Thank you all so much! Each of the answers had made me think about what I have been doing and what I need to be doing! I do plan on making a dr. appointment for bloodwork, it has been awhile. I have been eating and then journaling with BOTT at the end of my day, but I think that I will plan out my day of food and make sure that I eat it, as planned. Thanks for the wise words!
