WELCOME i'm so glad you've joined us!
Yes, you will feel full again. You've made the biggest step and that's journaling and planning. I've heard it said that when one fails to plan, they plan to fail. So....you clearly are planning to succeed.
WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER, YES WE CAN! And you are a significant part of that "WE"
I can only share that this group of folks, with their outpouring of caring and acceptance, have made all the difference in the world in my journey to relose the weight I've gained over the past year. Could I have done it without them, sure. Would I have done it without them - don't know and so thankful I didn't have to find out. Would I have had the peace and joy in the process without them NO WAY!
I believe giving and receiving support is vital to our success and it just isn't possible to give without also receiving. Don't hold back, reach out, we are here for you
I plan to have a happy BOTT day, pleae join me.

Hiya!
We had surgery just a week apart. It's good that you are stepping up to take control of your eating and exercise. It's a big first step to come here for help and accountability and support. Now is the time to look forward.... don't dwell on past mistakes and "should have's". Make a plan and move on. :-)
I eat around 1200-1400 calories per day --- I recently increased because I had my RMR tested and realized my scale had stopped because I wasn't eating enough. Many people don't eat as much as I do, so you'll need to find the right balance for YOUR body.
Start out at 1000-1200 calories and see how you do. Make sure you're tracking your calories so you have a good idea of what the true number is (I use www.fitday.com). You don't have to track calories forever, but you need to do it for a little while so you know that you're on track with your protein grams and calorie goals.
Grazing is a daily battle for me too. I combat it with scheduled meals and snacks. If I'm tempted to grab a handful of "whatever" I try to remind myself that I just ate or I have another meal/snack coming up in X minutes. Also, if I find myself craving food... a fresh bottle of crystal light usually gets rid of that craving.
Keep coming back here, lots of great advice everywhere you look!

Welcome to our Group. Like Happylapband shared with you, "our Group" now includes you too. I'm glad you joined. I hope you'll hang out with us.
Grazing is probably one of the worst things we can do. We never feel full or satisfied and we eat enough to either stall our weight loss or possibly gain weight. I would even go as far as saying grazing is probably among the top reasons we regain some weight. You're here with us and shared about your grazing and that's the first step is to be aware of it yourself.
As far as calories, it depends on those calories and your activity level. If you eat mostly carbs of sugar or refined carbs, you'll never get full and crave more. If you eat lean, dense protein, followed by complex carbs of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, you'll lose. Activity comes into play in determining the number of calories. For me, I did one of the RMR (resting metabolic rate) tests and it showed I maintained at 1,300 calories. I get the most bang from those calories by making sure they are high quality calories, exercise and I find that I'm fine.
When I was trying to kick my grazing habit, I would tell myself that cows graze, successful post-ops don't. When I start to think or get into grazing, I visualize a cow....it helps!

Welcome. I totally understand...I have grazed my way to a 40 lb gain. As you said, it IS so easy to do. The habit, unfortunately is much harder to un-do. I am new to this group also and I'm trying to overcome that habit. So far I'm doing pretty good. But it is true, if you get your good protein intake up, and decrease the bad carbs, the cravings will go away, making it easier to not graze.
I have purchased some high protein snacks, bars, shakes, etc. Now whenever I feel like grazing, I allow myself one of the above mentioned items as a snack. Having the protein has made the grazies (crazy grazings) much less.
Good luck. Come here often, the support is awesome and contageous.
