Back On Track Together
Old story . . . evening grazing
Well you know misery LOVES company! I have been working on my own night time boredom eating/grazing. What's working for me is GIVING myself an evening snack and factoring whatever it is into the whole days counts.
The other day I put on my favorite movie, Annie, and ALL of a sudden I felt a bag of popcorn would be perfect. WELL that popcorn is still sitting on the cabinet cause I refused to eat it. Now I will plan on having a popcorn snack but because that one wasn't planned I just refused to eat it...
Love yourself enough to throw out or give away the remaining crap from your cup boards and replace it with healthy delicious alternatives....
Just now I wanted a hershey kiss just because I opted for my calcium Viactiv which is specifically bought for those at work chocolate cravings. It works wonders...

Your comment about giving ourselves permission to eat snacks is really a key thing. I still get so caught up in the all-or-nothing thinking that got me morbidly obese in the 1st place. But planning something that I really enjoy that isn't total junk works well--once I get out of the habit of eating the crap!! Heck, I did that during my 1st couple post-op yrs., so I know it can be done! And I think it's fine to plan for an occasional "junk treat" if I'm otherwise under control. But for now, I need to get back to basics.
The Annie movie thing--made me chuckle. We sure do associate activities w/ eating! You did great resisting the popcorn!
Thanks for the encouragement,
Jo

Hi Jo,
The track for being back on track isn't always a straight shot. Sometimes it has speed bumps which are no big deal in the big picture or relosing weight. That's all you experienced.l What you did that is awesome is that you ditched the leftover holiday stuff and crap from your bridge game last week. That is taking control and putting the alien food in its place - in the trash and not in you!
Being on track is more than just making some food choices in 1-1/2 hours. It is what you do the majority of the time.
Congratulations!
