Forgot the protein feeling

I've refocused on eating lean protein.  I'd veered off the path during the holidays and hooked up with sugar.  Bad relationship!!  Now that I'm back to eating very clean with lean protein as my mainstay I've remembered the protein feeling.  I stay satisfied way, way longer.  Actually to the point that I know it is time to eat since I ate hours ago but I'm not particularly hungry.  It is such a great feeling.

I'm grateful for this group because it has reinforced and solidified even stronger my committment to being back on track.  I love checking in with my body and still feel that satiated from my last meal.

As all of us know, the sugar cycle goes round and round making you want more and more.  Protein is such a stabilizer of how I feel physically and mentally.

Having protein running through my system sure feels lots better than sugar junk.

Cathy~ I see your divorce is final!!  Congrats!  Think of all you will save  in "alimony".

I agree with you whole-heartedly.  I have been a BOTTer for about 8 days now and on track since Saturday.  I thought I would be feeling particularly poorly as I detoxed from the holiday sugar....not so bad except for having the runs (sorry)  I guess that this is my way of getting rid of the junk.

I, too, am grateful for this group.  Reminding me to journal my feelings has been especially helpful.  tonight I had a bad situation erupt as I walked in the door.  My first response was to grab the first thing on the counter and into my mouth...and I am being accountable and honest to say that I did just that...although when I became AWARE of what I was doing, I immediately stopped.  No real damage was done as I ate the corner of a matzo.  I put down the phone, found my journal and my water and retreated to write about it.  I knew I wasn't even hungry!

The protein issue has been key for me also.  I have stayed full for most of the day while only eatin my preplanned meals.  It is a nice feeling!!  and the bonus is no sugar crashes!!

So thanks again BOTTers, for saving the day.

Cathy. I completely understand what you mean. I too have just recently gotten back on the protien bandwagon. I switched from eating cereal for breakfast (allbeit a low sugar high protien cereal, but still cereal) to having an eggwhite omlett w/ff cheese every morning. Its absolutely amazing. i have rediscovered the sensation of fullness (lasting fullness), and may cravings have gone down considerably. Overall I have eaten much fewer calories, fat and sugar throughout the day.

I came to the same realization yesterday when finishing off my protein supplement.  I really do feel much better when I'm getting in enough protein.  I feel full and that does wonders when I'm trying to kick the grazing habit.

On the down side, I had headaches - detoxing from all the holiday sugar.  I'm over it now.

Yesterday was my first in a long while where I did not eat any refined sugar or carbs. I focused on protein drinks (several thoughout the day), a protein bar, a scrambled egg and then some Greek yogurt with blackberries mixed in. I felt so much better than when I am in a carb / sugar haze... and I definitely felt better this morning when I woke up. I have a new respect and appreciation for protein! Good luck to us all.

My nectar protein was delivered last Friday. I REALLY like it and I've been drinking protein drinks every day. Yummy...I love Fuzzy Navel Nectar...hear that Twisted Cherry is awesome too...guess I'll be ordering that next.

I have not been on OH in a very long time!  I have gained 55 pounds over the last 3 years, and I am still a very large woman - nobody believes me when I say I've had gastric bypass!

Today I woke up (after making myself really ill yesterday) and decided enough was enough, I am in a very destructive pattern of eating lately, mostly due to cir****tances in my life...  I've decided that the pity party needs to be over and I am recommitting myself to trying harder!

Today I have eaten mostly protein, and I have to agree that I am not even remotely hungry, despite it being lunchtime and time for the next planned high protein meal!

Now if I can just keep this up :)

Thank you for this group!
