OK first day back to work since last Wednesday.. Last week it was pretty empty, lots of folks on vacation.  So today someone brought in a few dozen donuts to celebrate a 50th birthday for the gentleman who sits directly across from me.    Yes I caved this morning and had one.. reason to eat breakfast before leaving home.. had I had my oatmeal I would have had zero room for the donut.    I had lunch around 11:30 or noon .. it filled me and felt good but everytime I look up I see this basket of donuts..   This is a challenge.... I don't want them but they are calling to me... I only have to make it until 4:00, I have to leave early for a dr appt.. hopefully i will get something that will help me get thru the night without coughing....  Thanks for letting me share (and cry for help : )   )   Maria

Here's your mantra for this afternoon, "I can do it.  I am more powerful than the donut."

Hi Maria,

One donut is a little speed bump, more than that is possibly compromising you being on track.

Try to remember that you are worth more than a donut.  Think how you feel when you just say "NO" to them.  Remember that the donut lasts only a couple of minutes at best.  The feeling you'll have if you don't give in will be longer lasting and make you feel awesome about yourself.

Have you seen the latest Slimfast commercial?  It is a great one.  Although I don't do Slimfast, I've adopted the rest of it.  It is a woman that is getting ready to leave her house (with a Slimfast) and she walks by a storefront with loads of donuts in it.  She visualizes the donuts coming at her and she karate chops them, kicks them and then tightens her belt another hole.  It is great.  Visualize yourself karate chopping them.  You are much more powerful than a deep fried piece of bread with sugar on it.

I posted earlier - remember the saying that nothing tastes as good as thin feels.  I like "Nothing tastes as good as being on track feels."

Let me know how it goes!  I'm with you!!

Cathy, I did walk away with some help...  I was talking to Mike (the birthday boy) and telling him about the donut and he said oh they are now stale how about a banana or an orange.. I had the banana... I thought that ended up a good compromise...   It was wonderful of Mike ... he knows how far I have come..

I have not seen the slimfast commercial... sounds like another tool to keep in my mind for when trying to combat the enemy foods : )

Thanks again, Maria

Maria,
Congrats on walking away from those donuts!  I had an experience while grocery shopping.  I was in the store for a few things and was pushing my cart and then all of a sudden I was in front of Pineapples.  MY FAVORITE!!  Big, beautiful Pineapples and they were on sale for $1.98 !!!  Holy smokes, my head was saying "you can't beat it, they're beautiful and CHEAP".  But I knew that if I bought it, that I would eat the WHOLE thing, by myself in one sitting!!  I got through that store faster than ever before.  From now on I will only shop with a list, if it's not on the list, it's not going in my cart.  Have a great day!

I had to laugh when I saw this - brought my grandson a bag of donuts holes this morning, and while I resisted the temptation to buy a donut for myself, I did eat 3 of his holes. ::sigh:::

Lynne, its now in the past but I so understand.  IMO 3 donut holes are probably less than a whole big donut : )    I'm cleaning all the holiday stuff out of my house.. the things I had for company.. thats something I need to change.. if I buy something for company it has to be something that is in my meal plan...
