Oprah Weight Regain show
I taped Oprah's weight regain show from today. I haven't been able to watch it yet but I saw some of the commercials on it.
One of them had a big impact on me. She talked about not letting the fat win. I am replacing that for my own purposes to fit me. I won't let the grazing win, or, I won't let the sugar win, etc.
Oprah also said something that clicked with me. She mentioned that when she'd lost her weight she thought she'd made it. I know for me when I regained my weight, it was caused by a transition in my life. I walked right in the old habit of emotional eating. Though in the back of my mind, since I'd maintained my weight loss for so many years, I thought I'd made it too. The lesson for me is that you have made it but you have to keep making it every day. It is an ongoing process. You need to make the choices that support your weight loss. I knew that but I think I somehow believed that a substantial weight regain wouldn't happen to me. It did.
I know there has been a great deal of talk since Oprah came out about her weight regain. I think it normalizes weight regain in any of us. With all the privilege and benefits of her own personal chef, training, and many others, it is a struggle for her and she regained weight. We are NOT failures. I think weight regain is merely an eye opener to do it again, and be more aware and appreciative of losing it. I believe that relosing it will make us even more focused on not regaining weight and practicing healthy habits.
I strongly believe that losing weight regain will make us even more successful. Isn't relosing regained weight the ultimate, sweetest success? We lost it once and we can and will lose it again. Think of how awesome and appreciative you'll feel.
Just my thoughts and opinions that I wanted to share with all of you.

I saw the show today and thought it was really good. Much of it made me tear up thinking about all of the feelings and emotions that we go thru and what it can do to us. I have to say that Carney Wilson looks amazing and is such an inspiration~I was really happy for her when I saw her face pop up on the screen and she looked SO good!!!!

I'm excited to watch it even more now reading your post.
I know Carnie Wilson from a previous job that I had. Her struggles along with those of Oprah show that money or fame don't make a difference and all of the privileges can bring. It all boils down to it is up to each of us and making choices that support our weight loss goals.
Thanks.

Oprah's honesty I appreciated. We want to make icons out of celebrities, but they are human just like the rest of us. Cathy, I appreciate your comments as well. I like the reframing of cir****tances. It definitely makes a difference in how we think about and live out our journey.
I find support here on BOTT. i commited to getting back on my food plan of 3 meals and 2 snacks. It is not perfect, but I am moving in the right direction. I celebrated 102 pound lost this past week. The stall has moved. I am writing down foods and activity.

I jus****ched Oprah this morning (on DVR) and it really touched me. I know that a lot of people don't like her, but I like her because of her honesty. I was also happy to see Carney Wilson on the show. I had my surgery right after Carney did. It was because of her WLS that I had mine. She admitted that she went through some tough times and had regained. But now she has lost 50 lbs in the past 6 months. What an inspiration for me!
