Back On Track Together
Hi Folks, I'm glad to be here with you!!!
Well, this is my first post here within this group. It feels good to be doing something actively to take care of myself. My long-term goal is to lose the 25 lbs. I have gained in the last year. My short-term goals for each day include:
1. No refined sugar (candy, cookies, cake, etc.).
2. No junk food (BBQ potato chips are my biggest weakness).
3. Take all my medications, vitamins and supplements.
4. Eat lots of protein and vegetables.
5. Exercise a little each day, even if it is just walking through Target.
6. Stay positive!!!
Just so you know a little about my history, I have Fibromyalgia and experienced a major flare-up beginning this time last year. This was probably how I gained my weight to begin with, because I was pretty much bed-ridden for about six months. I am doing much better now, but I have to be very careful with exercise. If I do just a little too much, it can send me to bed for a couple of days. But I have to find that happy medium because it's not healthy either to do no exercise at all.
Also, I tend to become very depressed beginning in October through mid-January. I definitely suffer from SAD. Last year I bought myself a light box and that has helped tremendously. But when I am depressed, I don't care what I eat, yet another reason why I gained weight.
That's it for now, and thanks tons for all your support!

Hi Anne,
Welcome to BOTT. We're glad you're a member.
Your goals are great ones to open up 2009. We have another member that has Fibromyalgia that posted "Just Walking" about activity with Fibromyalgia. It is nice that each of us bring our own experiences and can be here for each other.
The thing I like especially about your post is how you shared with us your challenges with Fibromyalgia and SAD yet you have found ways to deal with them and overcome. Very inspirational!!
Thanks for being here as a BOTTer!

Hi Anne,
I am new to the group also and over the past year have put on "several" pounds that I need to get rid of cause I feel just horrible. Yesterday was my first day in over a year of tracking my foods and nearly fainted in what I saw, no wonder I was gaining weight. We can do this together!
Welcome!!!

Hi Dana,
You're right! We can do this together and we will do this together.
It sounds as though you've caught your weight regain early. It is the first step. The next is that we all either get/stay on track together.

Hi Anne,
Just wanted to say hello and welcome back. I know you use to post alot so it is nice to see you back.
I hear you about the SAD. I don't think I have that but I do know that January here in NH is so very dull and cloudy, I find myself getting discouraged in January so I am thrilled that we have this Bott group to come to....together you can do anything....
have a great night....Laurie

Welcome to the group. I am new to the group as well. So we can walk this path together. I know it must be so hard when your depressed and hurting. But we can do this. I have gained 5 pounds over the holidays and started eating crap that I had not eaten since surgery. Like candy (choclate which I hated before surgery now I love!!! LOL) and cakes and chips. Well you get the picture. And when eating all that junk I do not feel good physically (have food allergies) and emotionally. So today I woke up and realized I did not want to ruin the best thing that every happened to me. My SLEEVE. So today made a huge effort to eat good. I am going for a 3 mile walk with doggies soon as I get off work. Had all my water. So I am back on the road. Lets do this together.
