ohh fingers crossed for the insurance!!
I don't have coverage unforunately : (, not ideal but I really don't want to wait the 12months to then start the process again! So I'm going ahead anyway! :)

I don't blame you for NOT wanting to wait. Once you make up your mind that you want this surgery for sure, you just want to be there living it. At first my insurance had a 6 month requirement of a dr supervised weight management program. I found this out after already waiting a month to get into to see my surgeon. So I was looking at Oct-Nov before I could have my surgery. In May my insurance changed their requirements to 3 months instead of 6. I am SO relieved to be able to have my surgery in August before the kids are back in school. That is such better timing!

Yeah totally, once you've made the decision you just want to do it already!
Luckily for me in Australia it's not a very common operation so I can easily get appointments with my surgeon (Thank goodness!)
That's so great you're able to do it before the kids are back at school! Timing is everything hey. The date I got is amazing, It's right between 2 really important things that I couldnt get out of and it allows for enough time to heal before my second commitment (hopefully!)

It takes 12 months in Australia to get insurance to cover WLS? That's nuts! No wonder it is not so popular there. I was surprised my insurance covered it. I still have co-pays and deductibles to cover which will amount to about $2500 out of my pocket before they cover 100%, but I can't complain. There is no way I could get this surgery if i had to pay for it myself!

Nah, it doesn't take 12 months if you have the right level of cover, I have basic private cover, but you need the really expensive level of coverage to not have to pay through the nose.
If I choose to change my level of cover, I then have to wait 12months to become elligable for the surgery to be covered. It makes sense, so people don't jump around in cover to suit them... But i still find it lame, haha. I don't think Australian health funds realize its as amazing as it is!
2500! That's amazing, you're blessed!!
Well, just quietly, there's no way I can afford to self fund but I do have very generous and VERY patient family that are letting me borrow the money :)
