My name is Sherry Blizzard.  I've been a resident of Fairbanks since 2004 coming from Cloudcroft, New Mexico.  I have struggled with weight my entire life.  My first diet at 6 weeks old...skim milk!  Like most of us here, I have tried every diet known to man, have been on a yo-yo cycle for the past 30 years and became morbidly obese 10 years ago after quitting smoking.  I had RNY Laproscopic Gastric Bypass on June 16, 2006 by Dr. Julie Ellner at Alvarado Medical Center in San Diego, California and have lost almost 115 pounds.  While I consider my surgery a success, I have issues of my own.  We are human and need to recognize our strengths, what we can lend to others, and when we need to ask for help and nurture ourselves.  I will be the site administrator for this group.  I have been formally trained by ObesityHelp.com administrative staff,  receiving my certificate as an ObesityHelp Support Group Leader in September, 2007.  Even though I am able to provide useful information, Alice Hardesty is our true expert and we all know, love  and respect her.  Alice  is a wealth of knowledge, a role model to be sure, but is human like the rest of us and has issues of her own that need addressing from those who are a year+ out.  All invited here have something to contribute (yes, you must be invited in order to join this group).  United, we are sure to succeed.  It is our goal to provide real answers and solutions to members struggling.  We are working together in this journey and in The Next Frontier of our path to better health.
