2nd Chance Revisions

Hi there! After being denied by another surgeon (the old partner of my original surgeon), and then racking up $1500 trying to get approved for revision at the Cleveland Clinic, I had pretty much given up on getting a revision. Then I happened to see that my original surgeon had "revisions" listed on his webpage again and reached out.
I have been told I meet the requirements for a revision at this point, have been working with their dietitian, and am finally meeting with my original surgeon this coming week. Not sure what my options are, but I finally feel some hope with this situation.
Similar story to yours and my revision is starting on June 1 . My doctor insists on reversing my RNY which was about 14 years ago and I also have a hiatal hernia in surgery number one . Then after I heal from that he will do surgery number two which is the sleeve . That is my revision and seems to be nothing normal kind of revision which is usually considered to be bands to something else . I lost lots of weight but had more to lose after my RNY and my doctors disappeared and I had no support system in place so I regained my weight . When I met with my new doctor surgeon he said gaining weight is unfortunately not that hard to do unless you have your head in the right place rather than just your food because you can't use food anymore as emotional substitute . He's dead right and I have spent the last year and 1/2 in counseling to be prepared .
V How are you doing if you're still in contact here or has anyone else been through this same procedure or something similar ?
You survived what you thought would kill you. Now straighten your crown and go forward like the Queen you are!
I had my revision on jan 3rd. starting into my third week and wanting to know how others are doing? noone around me can relate as not having to go under twice.
Considering a revison. I was sleeved almost 3 years ago. Lost 90 lbs have gained about 50 of it back. Pretty much have my mind set on the revison from the sleeve to the bypass but Everytime i contact a surgeons office they shut me down and talk to me as if me considering the revision is all about the weight when it's mainly about my health. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this issues so i will be heard.
I had gastric bypass in 1984 and lost around100 pounds. I started gaining my weight back in 2001 and a surgeon tell me, the staples used back then were not strong enough and a majority of folks are regaining their weight back. I thought I had almost everything completed. I had. Surgeon at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Then all of a sudden he said he wouldn't do my surgery. I called the office several times to find out his reasoning. He never called me back. The ladies that worked in his office with the insurNce called and told me.. Now I called Vandy and they said they so revisions.. Going to check them out.. I will have the revision in a second now just trying to find someone to do it..
I had surgery in June 2006, I never lost the weight I wanted to and have gained almost everything back. I am now a member of OA and realize I have a big issue with food. I'm not sure, please let me know if you have any thoughts on the revision after having gastric bypass or any surgery.
Thank you,
Elana
HI all!
I have been looking into having a revision for several years now. I started off at 371 lbs., had the Roux-en-Y Gastric bypass in 2002 and lost 130 lbs., then never lost any more. While it was wonderful. I never got below 240/size 18. Despite several attempts at Weigh****chers, Sparkpeople, and MyFitnessPal to keep track of diet and exercise, I am currently around 270/Size 20.
I visited my original surgeon around 5 years ago, who said I am a "success case," because I i not regain the majority off my weight, like most of his patients. (Plus he said that some doctors will do a band or sleeve over a pouch, but he won't.)
This year I had several appointments with a doctor who said that he did revisions. He happened to be an old partner of my original surgeon, but I was assured that this was not a problem. Long story short, he has refused and said I may want to try NYC or The Cleveland Clinic.
At this point I have contacted the Cleveland Clinic, and they seem very nice and accomodating. Fingers crossed that I am able to get somewhere with them!
I had a band in in April 2010. Lost 70lbs or so, got pregnant had my daughter. .. and can't lose a thing, but always getting stuck food no matter how much is chewed but starving. Constant fills and unfills.. My internal medicine Dr had tried everything again. Weight loss drugs, hormone specialist, nutritionist, endocrine specialist. I'm officially back on all my insulin medication again, ambien to sleep, pcos out of control again, chiropractor cuz I have small bones and as fused disc in my neck and the weight is painful. My Dr after 2 1/2 years says he will give me a referral to revision to another surgery. I need advice....and experiences
No. That's my advice. Any wls besides it. Almost all end up with some kind of problem. Example... slippage and erosion. You constantly need fill a and u fills unless ur lucky enough to b a sweet spot person which usually only lasts a few years. I have a band. Wish I would of gotten anything else.
