The Firm is my torture of choice, and I really enjoy the stretching at the end of the workout. Can you recommend a yoga DVD for beginners? Thanks, Gina

Brian- I practice Bikram Yoga. It's the best thing in the world I've ever done for myself. Glad to see there are others who do yoga here. I didn't know this board existed. Anybody else do/try Birkam? I think yoga is great for post-ops who need to get back in touch with their bodies and are having dysmorphic type issues. Lisa C from CT

Topic: Yoga and WLS
I just located this message board. So greaat to see other individuals who have had or will have WLS exploring yoga as a method of improving life. I had WLS in 1999 and lost 270 pounds, which I've kept off with a daily regimine of Iyengar style yoga. Yoga has changed my life just as WLS has -- in fact, the two go hand in hand. Namaste, BrianClt

Topic: Dahn Yoga... yuk
If you read my profile... you will see that I once went to a Dahn Yoga class. Although the physical exercise was good, I couldnt continue classes with them because of their cult-like pressure to increase my membership and to go to expensive 'special classes'. These special classes were similar to brainwashing sessions and were supposed to help you on your way to 'enlightenment'. Once I heard that woed... LOL... I beat feet out of there as fast as I could. I was wondering if anyone else had experiences with Dahn Yoga facilities out there.

Topic: Yoga in the Chino Hills, CA area
Im looking for a place to take yoga close to Chino Hills and Im having a hard time finding a place thats close. Going to Brea is NOT an option... I dont want to drive in the canyon or on the freeway because of traffic. There has to be a place in Chino, Chino Hills or even Pomona... anyone know?

I love Yoga, but I find that I don't do it so much anymore because it's hard to do some of the poses. I expect that after my surgery I will start going on a regular basis again. I mainly did Hatha Yoga & Meditation, which is hard because my cat's always want to join me!

Ok, I"ll post. I love Yoga, but actually did it far more before my surgery. Pre-op I felt it was the only form of exercise that really worked for me. Now I have so many more options. Still, I know I would be healthier mentally if I got back to the yoga.

What a pity no one uses this Yoga forum message board. Since WLS I absolutely love yoga. Attend at least once a week - last week made it twice. I also do a pilates class once a week but yoga is my favorite.
