We've noticed that there is a need for more support groups in West Virginia!
If you're interested in helping your community with this opportunity, we'd like to recommend that you consider starting a support group in your area. If this is something you'd like to pursue, please let us know and we can help you get started.
ObesityHelp can help you via our Support Group Leader Program. In order to be an active ObesityHelp support group leader, you'll need to submit an application, attend three teleclasses on support group dynamics, the surgery procedures and nutrition and digestion through a toll free number.
Some of the benefits as an ObesityHelp support group leader:
* Access to a monthly Roundtable Discussion meeting or a leader support group meeting both conducted through a toll free number.
* Access to monthly handouts and agendas to use with your support group.
* Access to network and communicate with other ObesityHelp leaders.
* Your very own OH Group, where you can also have "virtual" support. You will have a blog, photo albums, chat room, events system and a message board that you moderate.
There are many other benefits available to trained and active ObesityHelp Support Group Leaders.

I cannt believe that one has lost 185 lbs so quickly I am sooooo jealous I am 15 months out and still in the minus 30 pounds but I guess my gut is being stubborn I have another appt Tuesday and will get another fill
I dont mean I think she is kidding about her weight loss I am just so jealous

Thanks! I live in the Parkersburg and Marietta area so I would love to find one somewhere close. I'll keep looking. Tomorrow is Band day!

I am still not 100% sure but right now am leaning towards lap. I hate to say its basically from lack of information about RNY, and only knowing bad things about it. I was happy to hear that PEIA gives a choice now, my sister is watching, and I think we should all have choices. 185 lost is awesome, congrats on that x 100. I'm still basically in dream land other than the 10 I've lost doing the 1200 cal diet. I have 1 more visit with the nutritionalist and then I guess the psych eval and then surgery. I'm hoping to get it in before the years over, but I might be pushing it. They weren't real clear on how long it will take to get the psych scheduled and done. All that was clear was it would be a Wednesday. Thanks for the welcome

there's a group that meets the first monday at 20 th st and 11 th Ave at 6 pm but they arent really lap band orriented I think they try to be equal but theres more gastr. than Lap bands so they questions is more from them. This is Huntington sorry
There's also one in Charleston but I dont know anything about it and theres one in Ashland, Ky and dont know anything about that one either maybe you can go to that forum the Ky one and see what you can find.

Dr. Shinn did my surgery 04/23/06. They have an excelent staff and are very helpful. Dr. Shinn is a wonderful person and doctor. My surgery had no problems and so far I have had no problems since. I have lost 185Lbs and am still losing. As for me the RYN was the only surgey that my onsurance would pay for so that is why I had it, but I have no regrets, Good luck

I GO TO DR. SHIN ALSO! HE IS A GREAT GUY. I LIKE HIS POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND I FEEL CONFIDENT IN HIS SKILLS. I AM SCHEDULED FOR RNY ON NOVEMBER 3rd. THERE ARE OTHER FORUMS YOU CAN CHECK OUT ALSO.

I was told to stay on clear liquids my first day post-op, then to go on full liquids until my return office appointment on 10/10, I still can't figure out how to put the ticker factory ruler on my messages. I am not very computer saavy.

Dr. Shinn did my surgery 04/23/06. They have an excelent staff and are very helpful. Dr. Shinn is a wonderful person and doctor. My surgery had no problems and so far I have had no problems since. I have lost 185Lbs and am still losing. Good luck
