I had my first meeting with my surgeon, Dr. Rossi today. Seems like a nice and competent guy.
He is going to be working on the documentation that is required by my insurance. Once we get the approval, (and he is confident that it will be ok'd), we'll be able to set the date.
While we're waiting on that I've got appointments to see the nutritionist and for a psych evaluation.
It's pretty exciting and it looks like 2009 will be an exciting time!
Hello,
I am only 3 weeks out from surgery, however I would like to share with you what I have already gone through. Surgery not a problem. Nothing to drink the day of and half the day after very hard but you can make it with chap stick and wet swabs. Hunger the first week, not at all. You have to eat about every two - three hours. You just can't believe how much you have to eat trying to get all of the proteins and fluids in. I have had a couple of times that I cried and said why did I do this and I have to remind myself that it will only get better and that I am saving my own life by going through this. I am not going to sugar coat it for you (since you won't be able to have the sugar lol!) it is tough and you have to set your mind to it. I have gone to several parties and dinners the past few days and I do prepared by eating before I go or taking my food with me and eating there. I have gone to socialize and not think about the food. Best advice to give you......KEEP POSITIVE....AND TELL YOURSELF YOU CAN DO THIS. Don't let obesity win!!!

I bought some whey protein powder and I add some s/f vanilla pudding a little peanut butter and maybe a bite of a banana something we learned at a group meeting dont add your protein powder until you are ready to eat/ drink it as it will start loosing the effectivness as soon as you add the protien powder.
You summed it so well when you said, "this is life of death". That's exactly how I feel.
I'm so sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I can't wait to see how great we look next football season!
Best of luck in February. I'll keep you in my prayer.
Happy Holidays & Let's Go Mountaineers!
Jim
We're going to the bowl game in Charlotte and are hoping for a great time.
I have my first appointment with my surgeon this week. I guess I'll find out what I need to do as I move toward my lap band.
Take care,
Jim
THANKS,
JOY
