I want to congratulate you on your surgery date. I know you must be very excited!!
Some suggestions:
Take comfortable clothes to wear when you are going home. for example, lose fitting sweats (pants with lose elastic or drawstring)
A pillow to hold on your belly for your ride home (and to use in the hospital to feel more comfy)
Chapstick for your lips your mouth will be very dry
Your hown hair brush, tooth brush and favorite toothpaste
Camera to start taking pics of your journey
and that's it. I took magazines to look at and I never even looked at them.
Wishing you all the best in your journey.

My affirmation for today is:
Exercise is fun and gives me energy. I create many opportunities to exercise and move my body.
I have to really push myself to exercise from now on. I need some major toning and to build up my gluteal muscles it hurt so much to sit.

Dr. Nease's office does have you call your insurance and check if it is covered before they do anything. If it is covered then you have to match the criteria. Sorry your insurance doesn't cover it. Jackie at the Dr.'s office will call you back within two days. She is a very busy person, right now the office is not booking appts until April they are so busy. The only other possibility if your insurance doesn't pay is private pay. There is companies that will do financing for this surgery, if that is an option for you. I had Highmark BCBS. I also heard that some of the companies have put in their insurance policies not to cover wls. If that is the case you could go to the HR and see if they might make exceptions. Don't give up right away, try all options before you do that. It is well worth the fight.

Hi there, This is Karen B. from Bluefield. I was so glad to see someone remembered me. I haven't really been on here enough for that so thank you so much. I did have my sleeve surgery on 2/10 at CAMC - Memorial and everyone was so kind and really help me through this process. I was absolutely scared to death and it was over so quickly and the minute my eyes opened in recovery and I realized that I was ok, I just had to thank God for taking care of me and giving me this incrediable opportunity to change my life. I have been so large for so long, I don't know any other way of life so this is a completely new journey for me. I was in the hospital 2 nights and got home last night about 6pm. It was not a fun trip home on the turnpike. I held a pillow up against my tummy just about the whole trip. My nausea is beginning to leave, I was able to drink some broth today. I lost 44 pounds pre-op and I haven't weighed since so I don't know if I have lost anymore or not. I feel like I have though.
Thanks again for thinking of me!
Karen B
