I am too so frustrated with WV Medicaid they just keep wanting more, and more. Seems like my surgery will never happy, but now they are saying sometime in October.  It's not my doctor, it's the State of WV. I refuse to give up, and keep pushing toward what they want, I need 6 more months of dieting on a 2nd diet for the state. Sometimes, it's hard but I am doing it. Good Luck to you. I know it will happen for the both of us. I just sometimes want things faster then they can happen.

I GOT MY CENTURY CARD!  THANKS KATHY.

I LOST 61 POUNDS FROM SEPTEMBER 2008 TO THE DAY OF MY SURGERY ON NOVEMBER 3 2008.

SINCE THE DAY OF MY SURGERY TO TODAY, I HAVE LOST 59 POUNDS.

THIS MAKES THE GRAND TOTAL OF 120 POUNDS!!!!  YIPPEE!

OF COURSE, I STILL HAVE MORE TO GO BUT, I AM SO HAPPY AND FEEL GREAT!

Hi there!!

Congratulations on your surgery date!!!  I remember last November when I received my date.  I cried like a little baby!  I was so scared and nervous and worried for 3 months and then the day of my surgery it was over before I knew it and so many of the things I had been so scared and worried about were nothing at all.  I prayed for God's protection and received that and more. I was so sore and I have had alot of nausea but it has been nothing completely unbearable and can't imagine not making this decision for my life.

You will have moments when you think "What have I done?" but they are so soon chased away with the reality that you have saved your life.  I am learning that there IS more to live for than food.

Tonia & Joy - Thanks so much.  Now I need to be careful not to gain any before surgery.  Actually I'd like to lose as much as possible before the surgery.  At the support group meeting on Tuesday, Dr. Shin mentioned that we always concentrate on the date of surgery as being the big thing, but in reality it's the beginning.  We need to eat and exercise in a healthy manner after surgery in order to be a healthy 90-year-old.  To look at the "long term."  Enjoy your day, girls.  I'll promise to keep you both posted on my progress and you both promise to keep me posted as well.  We need to keep this WV forum active!!  Hugs, hugs, - Pat

Hi!

Fried foods really bother me and red meat, breads and pastas are hard for me to digest.  I have never drank alcohol, before or after my surgery, so I can't answer that question.  Your stomach is only the size of your index finger, so you can eat very little.  You have to take very small bites, chew them really well and take your time.  The same goes for drinks.  The recovery was about six weeks I think.  Good luck!
