Hi Jana,

Welcome to the Loser's Bench!  I am so happy that everything went well for you.

I must agree with you girl that gas pain is a killer. I remember the day after my surgery I was trying to get out of bed for the first time and I could barely take a deep breath. The pain was excruciating from the gas pain and it was all in my chest and ran up to my nech and left shoulder.   I just recently had surgery just on June 26th and the same thing happened this time it went to my right shoulder, chest and neck.  It is finally getting better. I realize if I keep myself moving the easier it is to get rid of it.  A lot of chamomille tea helps too.

Wishing you all the best and I hope your return back to work has been uneventful.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Oh that's okay!  I know what your going through with the computer problems, it seems to be okay for now though....lol  Thanks for getting to me though and welcoming me!!!  My dr is Dr. Duremedes in Princeton WV.  I have been researching this surgery for over a year and a half now and he didn't show up on the list until last August.  Needless to say, I was very thankful that a surgeon closer to me showed up!  lol  I would've made the drive to Charleston or Huntington if I had to but am happy that I don't have to now.  I haven't personally met my surgeon yet but with everyone I have ask about him, not one person has told me anything bad about him.  I really can't wait to meet him, and I really can't wait to have my surgery.  I think my next step is the psych consult, I'll find out tomorrow when I go see my dr.   I'm really so excited about it!  Especially after coming on here and reading so many stories and seeing so many before and after pics, I am just really amazed!  lol

Congrats to you on your success!  How much have you lost?  Good luck with your dr appt!

 Joy  :)

Hi, Joy!!  Welcome.  I've been having computer problems lately so haven't been on the internet much lately - sorry about reading your post so late.  I was lapbanded on 3/30/09.  So far I've been very happy with my results.  I have my 3-month post op appt tomorrow with Dr. Shin.  Who is your doctor?  Hang in there, Joy.  Keep reading the posts and asking any questions you have.  Nothing takes the place of being informed and knowing what you're in for.  Let me know if I can help.  Hugs, Pat

Just wanted to say hey to everyone and introduce myself.  My name is Joy and have opted for the LapBand surgery.  I'm on the 3rd month of the 6th month process, so my surgery should be sometime in September.  I just saw the dietician yesterday and got some good info, I go back to my dr on Monday and then I guess next would be the psych consult.  I'm not really sure...lol  I'm really looking forward to September and having this surgery, that is if everything goes as planned with my insurance but my dr seems pretty confident so we'll see.  lol

I'm excited and sort of scared all at the same time, and a little worried I guess.  I've been on a roller coaster of dieting for about 7 or 8yrs now.  I've yo-yoed up and down and just tired of all that.  I know this isn't a guarantee, it's a lifestyle change and that's what I'm looking forward to.

I hope to get to know all of you and hear your thoughts, ideas, stories...whatever ya got for me..lol  I registered here yesterday and spent most of the evening looking at the before and after pics and was just amazed at the changes, I think it even made me more excited...lol  I can't wait to show my before and afters!!!  lol

Well, thanks for reading...

 Joy  :)

Jana - I'm glad to hear things went well and that you're feeling better.  Just hang in there.  Go through the steps ... liquid - puree - before long you will definitely be sayig "I love my band!".  Take it easy this week.  Everyone is different and can tolerate different foods.  You'll find your way.  Take care, sweetie!  Hugs, Pat

Hi Jana!  Congrats on your surgery!  Just remember to take it one day at a time and don't push yourself.  Wait until you see what the future holds for you.  It is a wild and enjoyable ride!

Well I am now on the losers bench. Everything went really smooth for Dr Shin.He was happy with how it went. Me on the other hand , I had really really bad gas pain. I don't think anyone could prepare you for something like that. I tried to walk as much as possible. They had a real hard time finding a place to put the i.v.  My anxiety level was extremely high when I was in anaestethia (sp?). But after they about 5 nurses they finally got an iv in and I felt better. They gave me some good medicine to help me relax before I went in.

When I got home on saturday I still had a lot of neck pain and chest pain from the gas. I think most of the gas has left my body now. I started getting my appetite back yesterday but I believe that I have it undercontrol. It is so hard to not pick up food I used to eat. But I know if I do , I will be paying some heavy consequences. I am down 6lbs so far and that feels really good.  The only pain I have now is where the port is and it is minimal. Only when I move around to much or bend over.  I have my post op appt with Dr Shin tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.

I hope this is totally worth it. I can't wait to get over the first couple weeks so I can experience more of what real life is going to be like. I took all of next week off too. So I don't know what it is going to be like really until I go back to work.

Thanks for reading my long post.

Have a great day!

Jana
