Congratulations!! You sound like you're ready for it.  Be sure to post and let us know how it went.   Hugs, Pat

By the way - are you having an "angel" at the hospital for you and your family?   Be sure to let Dr. Shin's office know if you want one.

Moutain State Blue Cross Blue Shield policy re: lap banding:  https://www.msbcbs.com/medpolicy/G-24-015.html

I decided to call today since I had heard the 6 vs. 7 months.  It is 6 "full" months, which makes it 7 months by the time you have your initial evaluation and go through a medically supervised diet & exercise program.

Greetings fellow mountaineers!  I have been scheduled for lap band surgery on Friday, the 28th!  I am excited and nervous too!  I have really enjoyed reading the message boards and I have found out a great deal!  I really appreciate the people who take the time to post encouragements to others!  Thank you.

Congratulations on that first big step!  Some people go in knowing which surgery they want; others take the pre-op period to learn, ask questiions and then decide.  Dr. Shin will discuss options and answer any questions you have.  Best of luck!! - Pat

OK, I am excited.  I have been trying not to think about this at all, but the appointment is finally about to happen.  Any advice?  I feel like it has taken me a long, long time to make the decision and then to get the appointment.

Topic: RE: What protein drinks/mixes are the best tasting?
I never liked any protein drinks or shakes that I tried. But one that I tolerate well is the Vanilla flavor Body Fortress Avanced whey protein.  You get the almost 2 pound jug at Walmart for only $14.00 it taste good.    The second one at Walamrt also is the EAS 4 drinks in a pack.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. Wishing you an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery!

Topic: RE: ISO Surgeon in Huntington
Hi Robyn,

I used KDMC and am very happy with them. Here is the link to their web site. http://www.yourhealthylife.org/ . The company I work for is located in WV but we have branches in KY as well so some things were in network and some weren't.

I'm sure everyone that has been successful thinks their surgeon is the best and I am no different. I live in Barboursbville as well and although it's about a 45 minute drive I highly recommend them. Dr. Wheeler was my surgeon. They have 3 surgeons.

Here is a link to St Mary's site. I checked them out as well but decided on KDMC. Nothing bad to say about St Mary's or Cabell Huntington, KDMC just seemed a good fit for me. http://www.st-marys.org/service_weightloss.php.

My Ins Co has a web site to check if a provider is in network.
