North American River Runners is one of the best, if not the best guide company here. They have campgrounds and just about every form of lodging available. I'd stick with them. They have a website-call and run the dog situation by them. There always seemed to be dogs running around when I was there. One more couldn't hurt lol.
Topic: Visiting WV white water rafting and camping...Can you help?
Hello,
When people are visiting Atlanta they come on the GA board and ask about tourist info so I thought I might be able to get some helpful info from the WV board for my upcoming trip. I am very excited about White Water Rafting there. I have heard it is AWESOME!!! This one of my many passions since I have lost weight! It is sooooo much fun!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
I am visiting WV the weekend of September 11Th and 12Th. We are white water rafting the "Upper Gauley" with the North American Outfitter group. Does anyone have any info on them...reviews good or bad.
Does anyone have any info on a good campground near Fayetteville that has electric/water for tent camping. I have talked to Cooter's Cabin and Camping and they seem to be nice....does anyone know anything about them?
Also we are bringing our Dog, do you know of a kennel in the are that would take good care of her while we are on our white water rafting trip for the day?
Thank you in advance for any info you can assist me with.
Have a great day!

Callie - Congratulations on your first steps!! We're all in this together and have the same issues with cravings for the wrong foods. Be sure to attend your support group meetings. You'll get lots of info and support there as well. - Hugs, Pat
Topic: wls requirements for MWIN or medicaid
Does anyone know the requirements to qualify to have the RNY if you are on the MWIN program in WVA? I know they cover the surgery but wasn't sure of the prerequisites. My aunt is thinking about having it.
Thanks,
Kim
Thanks,
Kim
Topic: had my 1st wls appt today
i had my weight loss surgery consultation with dr rossi today. him and his staff are very kind and compassionate. i wasnt sure if i was going to do the band or the bypass. we determined that the bypass would be my best option due to my problems. i now have a appt with the nutritionst next friday. now when i visit my pcp and give her the monthy sheets for her to fill out the next 7 mos for my diet and exercise plan. the hardest part is going to be sticking to this any advice. any advice on trying to curb the cravings for junk food. sad to say but im a major junk food addict especially since im on the go.

That's great. I am sorry that KDMC did not respond. St. Mary's will be much closer and I am sure will give you good care. My wife and I go to Barboursville park when she has the time, she walks and jogs while I run. She is just now getting into it. I prefer running in Huntington. If the wife and I are not going together I take my stuff with me to work and run from there, or go to Ritter Park. I like the path in Ritter Park. If I am doing long runs I often run on the streets of Huntington and run from one end of town to the other. That way I can get in a long run with out going in circles like Barboursville Park. Barboursville is a great area to live.

Thanks Pat! I went in today for my pre-op meeting. They answered a lot of questions, but I am sure I will have plenty more as I go along. They mentioned the angel program but I didn't know when I needed to sign up. I wonder if I can just call them tomorrow about it? I go in the hospital on Thursday and have to stay 2-3 days after surgery. I am on warfarin (coumadin) for life because of a bout with Pulmonary emboli in both lungs about 6 years ago. I have "thick" blood, so they extra days are just a precaution. I can't wait to have this surgery!
Thanks for making me feel welcome!

Thanks for the info! I put in a request to both KDMC and St Marys. Never heard back from KDMC while St Marys responded within two days and is accepting me as a patient, no questions asked! That made the decision much easier. I am also in Barboursville and am new to the area. If you are ever in need of a walking buddy or anything please let me know :)
