Topic: Medicaid With Dr. Nease
Hi I contacted Dr. Nease's office and they sent me a info pack and I gave it to my Dr. and he has sent me to Joslin Diabetes Center at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington and I have been going there for Diabetes education and I was wondering what the next step is? Should I call Dr. Nease's office? Has anyone on here had the surgery through Dr. Nease using medicaid? I appreciate any help!

Topic: RE: LAP BAND
Hi, turtlelover - I'm from the Charleston area and was banded 6 months ago yesterday. I love it. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself. If you're just getting started on research, I would suggest going to the lapband site, reading the posts, and reading the blogs of anyone who interests you. Take care and keep us posted on your progress. Hugs, Pat

Topic: RE: hello everyone!
I had my surgery at KDMC in Ashland and was told to wait at least 10 days to 2 weeks before contacting my insurance. In about a week I got a letter from my insurance company telling me I had been approved. I looked at it and didn't quite know what to make of it. I just couldn't believe I had got an answer so fast. I called them,"CIGNA", and they told me that yes I had been approved. Hope yours goes as well.

Hi Sarah,
After turning in all the pre-op stuff it took 3-4 weeks to get approved for me through M S Blue Cross. There was no battle for me, I was approved on the first try. After that it was another week before my surgery was scheduled, which was six weeks away. Six weeks goes fast.

the letter i got was through my employer which is camc outlining the changes in the insurance. the 1500 co pay is effective nov 1 on all weight loss surgeries after nov 1. which my surgery date would be in may of 2010. and of course with camc insurance you can only use camc's facilities if you want to make your co pay cheaper. i work in the pharmacy at camc memorial as a pharmacy technician.

I am from Fairmont and am scheduled for surgery September 29th, this coming Tuesday! I would highly recommend Dr Akkary at Ruby Memorial. He is the nicest, kindest person. Their whole staff is great. He gives you his cell number, etc and will take the time to talk to you about whatever you have questions about. Really, I have nothing but nice things to say about them.

I live in Charleston WV and my surgeon is also here. Someone where I work (and his wife) had the Lapband procedure done and recommended him. I had the RNY bypass and am very happy with it. Dr Rossi and his staff are great. I highly recommend him. There are several other surgeons in this area that do both procedures. Good luck with your search.
