Dr. Shin/Medabolix?
Hi all,
I am in search of a new surgeon. I was working with Dr. Mark Johnson in Morgantown and had just completed my consult, upper GI, gallbladder ultrasound, psych eval & nutrition consult when I learned that because of the whole malpractice mess of this state he will no longer be doing any bariatric surgeries. I have 2 more months to go on my medically supervised diet before I can submit for ins. approval and therefore did not yet have a surgery date. I was devasted when I got the news yesterday. Dr. Johnson's office referred me to 2 surgeons in Pittsburgh, but my insurance will only cover 50% if you go out of state/network and when I called both of their offices, I am looking at having to wait a year or more before having my surgery. It would be like starting all over again!
Would anyone mind sharing their experience with Dr. Robert Shin? Or other surgeons in WV? I am not interested in having the surgery done at WVU.
I can't believe I'm in this situation. It was bad enough that my insurance changed their requirements in May, now this. I only pray that I do not get denied by the ins. company. Thanks for your help!
Mary Ellen
