I finally have a surgery date!!!!!

I finally have a surgery date. August 23 is the day. After all the starts and stops along the way, I can hardly believe it is really going to happen. Within a few months I maybe walking without a walker; sleeping without a mask and having to have oxygen every where I go!!!!! Sr. Jo

Dear Kelly, Thanks for reading my message. This journey started 19 months ago when my pcp recommended this surgery and referred me to the only surgeon here in Wheeling who does it. He rejected me because he didn't have much experience and I have DVT. Oddly enough, last month I had to have a breast biopsy and that surgeon did the biopsy. St. Albans is my hometown, so I am familiar with Dunbar. Just the mention of anything in the Charleston area makes me homesick. Once a year I make an 8 day retreat in a log cabin on a friend's property near Alum Creek. Maybe this year when I come, I could meet you. I usually come in Oct. Sr. Jo

CONGRATS!!! I should be next! Just got my insurance and medicare approval this morning.

Dear Barbara, Thanks for reading my message. This journey started in January of last year, but took lots of twists and turns, so it took much longer than normal. I had begun to think it would never happen. You certainly have a long way to drive to Dr. Schauer's office!! Congratulations to you too.!!!!! I hope you are scheduled soon. If you go to the suport group the first Wednesday of every month maybe I will get to meet you sometime. Sr. Jo
