Good morning family, Today looks like its going to be beautiful here in WBGV the sun is shining and life is wonderful as a 9 1/2 month post op patient. I have started doing some things I never thought Id do, for one I jump on the scale every morning and evvery night, lol. Dont know exactly what kind of change I expect to see overnigt but I have just figured out this morning that its not that Im looking to loose weight overnight but to not go backwards and start gaining. I am also working hard at a very busy job I never thought Id go back out on the floor as a nurse again but I did. I am 12 months away from graduating with my associates degree in business and I am not afraid to do a power point presentation any longer. Im no longer afraid to to water areobics or workout at the gym or learn to scuba dive, or water ski, or swim at the lake, or go to the tanning bed (before I was afraid Id break the glass), or ride a horse, okay you are getting the picture right? One of my patients was telling me how her feet hurt all the time and of course I told her how mine used to hurt so bad too and she asked me what I did to make them stop. Well when I told her I used to weigh nearly 200 pounds more than I do now, she was amazed. She said she would have never known, but I WILL NEVER FORGET! My poor little feet thank me everyday for having surgery! My last day at work I was standing in a patients room giving her medications and she has a large mirror at the end of the room I look into the mirror and smile, thinking I am smiling at someone. But it was just my reflection in the mirror, then I really begin to smile because I LOOK NORMAL. I LOOK NORMAL NOW!!! That is such an accomplishment for me. At 354 pounds I would never do a powerpoint presentation because I knew everyone would be looking at me instead of my presentation, now I can just blend into the crowd and not have to worry about being laughed at or ridiculed. I love life, and am finally happy. Yesterday at the dentist office for just a moment I worried about fitting in the chair as sometimes I forget that Im not MO anymore. Imagine my surprise when there was rooom left on both sides of me. Imagine my surprise that people initiate conversations with me now instead of just staring at me. Guys and gals I hope you are all doing well in your journey and I wish you all the peace, happiness and most of all the health that I have found. So what if I have some extra skin, RIGHT??? RIGHT!!! Heck that aint nothing compared to the 194 pounds of extra fat I was hauling around. Yea I AM the butterfly VAL. I am and deserve TO BE. Thanks for helping me to see that. hugs to you all, Teresa
