Going For My Consult With Dr. Stickler Thursday, March 18th!!!!!!!

I am so excited and scared all at the same time.....I can't wait to meet the doctor and his staff better...Please everyone wish me good luck!!!!!! Also I'd like information about the support group in Charleston if anyone doesn't mind to share...Thanks

Hi Josie! I'm in Charleston and have my first appt with Dr Stickler on 4/6. You'll be able to tell me all about it!! Sorry I cant help with the support group question, but hopefully someone on here will. Hope to see you post about your appt. --Barb

Josie, The new support group that Metabolix is forming will be held March 25. 5:30 to 6:30. It's going to be at the new Metabolix office. At a later date there is going to be different meeting for people who are further out than a year. I quess everything will be explained in this first meeting. I quess that's why Dr. Stickler wants everyone there. The one that has been formed for several years I think will be changing to Friday nights. All this information is usually posted on the yahoo group bariatric patients of southern WV. You should join. Lots of Dr. Shin's and Dr. Stickler's patients belong to it. Debbie S

Hi Josi. I am a patient at medabolix in Charleston but Dr. Shin is my doctor. You will absolutely love the nurse Matt. He is so nice and considerate. He is as excited about our success as we are. The whole staff is great I wish you lots of luck...........TERESA

Hi Josie!! I had surgery by Dr. Shin (Stickler's partner) 3/4/04 and I am doing great!!! Feel good. You will do great!!! I have not attended any of the Support groups in Charleston yet - I live in Putnam co and really hope there will be one down here.

Well then, today's the day!! Good luck. More than likely, if I decide to go the WLS route, CAMC is where I'll have it done, too. I wish I could get it local so it wouldn't require my husband to take off several days from work to stay in Charleston but such is life in a mostly rural state. Even tho' we have a great hospital in Princeton they don't do everything. Good luck on today's consult & I'm sure you'll let us know how it goes. Kathy

Sorry havent got back soo soon... i posted earlier on my profile..Well it went great ...My psych eval is April 9, 2004...He said he doesnt see a problem with me getting approved though...They want me to lose 30 - 50 pounds before surgery....thats ok because he is being precautious because of my sleep apnea.. im still a little scared..I know once i fet over this big hurtle ill be ok....My husband and I have been buying protein drinks and trying them..I'm on the pre op diet..had a little of a late start because we were all stricken with a bad virus....im glad its over with.. I think im going to have to go to my pcp tomarrow because ive been keeping high blood pressure and and been swelling up a lot here lately.. i hope it wont affect anything with the surgery...oh well i have everyone supporting me ...... the rumors are true ...they are the best at dr. stickler's office..im glad i decided to this .. it will be a long journey but im going to get through it.. well hope to hear from you all in the future ..thanks
