having trouble with psyc consult.

i had my psyc consult on June 9, the doctor went out of town for a few days and mentioned it would be a couple days before he could get testing score and transcripts sent to dr.....welll june 20 i called to see if they had been faxed...he got irate...said he told me it would be at least two to four weeks before he could have eveything ready...blah blah blah...so i told him my deadline for insurance was 17 of june...i called and got an extension until the 20 because his receptionist assured me it would be done by then, so i need to call the insurance company and ask for another extension....so after 30 minutes of run around he said july 7..ok called got extension...get home there is a message on my machine..to call him....he said that the insurance company hadnt returned his calls about billing and he wasnt wasting anymore of his time on my case until he was paid....WHAT....i was irrate...he hasnt billed the insurance company yet so he dosent even know if they are or are not paying he said it would be better for me to come in pay the 300.00 and then he would start working on my case.....i'm thinking i should just go to someone else....if anyone knows of a good service in lewisburg wv please give me some advice....and beware of timberline

Lauren, sorry to hear getting through the psych consult has been so difficult. I don't live in the Lewisburg area so I'm afraid I can't refer you to anyone. I was referred to a psychiatrist by my surgeon. Things went smooth but I still had to wait a month before the results were given to my surgeon (I'm happy to note that the psychiatrist found me "refreshingly normal"). If I were you I'd find another doctor!

Lauren My PCP referred me to my Psych. He charged $240.00 my co pay was $30.00 & I paid it then & he collects from Ins. The only thing he has to do (basically) is talk into a tape recorder & then the secretary transcribes it. My eval was on Fri. & it was faxed on the following Wed & a copy mailed to me. I think he should be paying you for wasting your time & being rude to boot! Good Luck with whatever choice you make! I'd find a new one. Linda P

well i'm having another consult with a different dr. tomorrow morning...i do have to pay up front but its.$150.00 less than the other doctor...so i'm not even bothering to get back in touch with the other JERK....anyway they also guareented me that it would be in my dr. holwicks hand in less than a week...so here we go again.....hope i have better luck....
