I've got a date!!!

Oh my goodness!!! I just got a call from Dr. Shin's office with a surgery date of Monday, 3/30.  My oh my, oh my, oh my!!  I'm so excited - and nervous - I could scream!! - Pat

Yay for you! Isn't this so exciting? I have my surgery on 4/8 and I am so excited and I am nervous too. But I know that God will see me through this. His will be done! Keep me posted on everything!

Tonia & Joy - Thanks so much.  Now I need to be careful not to gain any before surgery.  Actually I'd like to lose as much as possible before the surgery.  At the support group meeting on Tuesday, Dr. Shin mentioned that we always concentrate on the date of surgery as being the big thing, but in reality it's the beginning.  We need to eat and exercise in a healthy manner after surgery in order to be a healthy 90-year-old.  To look at the "long term."  Enjoy your day, girls.  I'll promise to keep you both posted on my progress and you both promise to keep me posted as well.  We need to keep this WV forum active!!  Hugs, hugs, - Pat

Hi there!!

Congratulations on your surgery date!!!  I remember last November when I received my date.  I cried like a little baby!  I was so scared and nervous and worried for 3 months and then the day of my surgery it was over before I knew it and so many of the things I had been so scared and worried about were nothing at all.  I prayed for God's protection and received that and more. I was so sore and I have had alot of nausea but it has been nothing completely unbearable and can't imagine not making this decision for my life. 

You will have moments when you think "What have I done?" but they are so soon chased away with the reality that you have saved your life.  I am learning that there IS more to live for than food.

Thanks, Karen!  I truly believe that this is part of God's plan for me.  My doctor (PCP) was very much in support of this - in fact, it was his idea.  I, also, have prayed every step of the way and know that He is with me.  Thanks for the encouraging words, Karen.   By your numbers you are doing very well.  Congratulations!! - Hugs, Pat

Thanks, Jana!  I truly appreciate your comments.  I checked out your profile for an update.  Congratulations on the weight loss!  FYI ... regarding the long day meeting the psych and nut ... I met with the nut for about 45 minutes then was with the psych from 10 am - 3:00 pm.   They put you in a room to answer a ton of questions (on paper).  Then she took me back  and talked for a little over an hour.  Then back to the room to finish the papers.  The last sheet had a total of about 570 questions.  It was one where you fill in the circle for your answer.  They told me I could leave for lunch and come back to finish but I just wanted to get it all done.  Also, you have to pay to park anyway.  Be sure to take a protein bar with you as well as bottled water to drink as the only thing there is a drinking fountain in the hallway near the elevators.  Of course, you can go to the cafeteria.  Best of luck!! - Hugs, Pat

Thanks for the information Pat... It seems like things are happening so fast now. I know it will be here before I know it. Is it stressful?  Just hearing about all those questions I have to answer seems like it would be stressful. I am very anxious.

Jana, you're much younger than I.  I'm twice your age!!  Therefore I had a lot more years to go over in my head while answering those questions.  Trying to remember things like my body image at different ages thru my life.  Those types of questions won't be as time-consuming for you.  Please don't worry about it.  None of it was hard but for me I hadn't stopped to think about a lot of it for many years.  You'll do fine and it won't take as long for you.  Please don't be concerned.  Hugs, Pat
