Ginger - Congratulations!  Glad to hear you're doing better.  It sounds like hernias are very common.  I have one as well; Dr. Shin said he will repair it before doing my band surgery.  Take care of yourself and report back to let us all know how you are doing. - Pat

I'm Lea in central WV (Braxton).  I had RNY with Dr. Stickler 8/29/06.  My starting weight was 410 pounds and I stick pretty close to 205 these days.  So, as my hubby likes to tell people, I lost another person along the way!  I weigh what I've lost!  LOL

I try to make it to Dr. Stickler's support group the second Friday of each month at his office (Medabolix in Charleston).  We welcome ALL though!  You don't have to be his patient!

I also run the OH mini-challenges that you may recall seeing posts about in the main forum or the health forum if you've ever clicked over there...  We have a great group of regulars who are working together to get and stay on track!

I also blog regularly over at http://lovinlifewithlea.blogspot.com/  Check it out when you have time!
Best wishes!
Lea

Hi Pat,

My name is Cira I had RNY surgery 03-06-07 I am 20 months out 10 pounds below goal and I have a 10 1/2 month old baby.  I wasn't planning to get pregnant 3 month out from RNY but it happened.
I exercise at home I continue to eat healthy and I am glad that I had this surgery done.  I no longer have diabetes or sleep apnea.

Wishing you all the best in your journey.

I am who I am and accept my feelings wholeheartedly.

Hi everyone, My name is Melinda. I had RNY November 24, 2008. I am 2 mo. out and have lost 40 lbs since surgery, 18 lbs during my 6mo. pre op, for a total of 58 lbs lost.
My surgery has been very successfull so far. I am not going to lie that sometimes my head tells me that I want to snack on things and when I do my pouch says no way. That is the hardest part I think is the head hunger. If you completely get mentally ready for this surgery and change in lifestyle you can do it. I am excited for each new day and what it has to offer me.
Everyone keep up the good work and whatever stage you are in. I highly recommend you ask questions on here and research..research.

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the boards. I am Dottie, live in Procious, WV, in Clay county.
I have had my RNY surgery on January 5th, 09.
My beginning weight was 361, last year I lost 60 lbs. and since my surgery I have lost another 25 pounds.
Dr. Shin is my surgeon, and I have been very pleased with him.  He has a really wonderful caring personality.
I have problems getting in all the liquids I need a day.   Seems I am always so full.   I need to find more sources  for checking out what Protein products they have.  I have heard of bullets, but where do you get them.  I hear they do not taste very good either.
I am healing up pretty good,  but still really sore.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Dottie
