Do any of you drink Isopure zero carb liquid protein? I have a friend who uses it. It has 40grams of protein . She loves it and sips on it all day. It is a little expensive though, but since I quit smoking for this surgery I guess I can afford that for myself. Like she says "I'm worth it". Any way I forgot to ask her: does it count as water too? It's clear like kool-aid. does anyone know?

Please tell your friend that 40 grams of protein is way to strong for her kidneys to handle. My doctor warns his patients against taking in more than 30 grams of protein at a time. Congrats on quiting smoking. You are going to do great. Best wishes. Pray USA

Sorry if I didn't explain this well. I wasn't talking about drinking this all at once. this wouldn't be possible. We need to take in 60 grams of protien a day and sipping on this throughout the day would help meet that goal. I was wondering if this would help meet the water need too. Michelle

You could sip on this all day. My Dr. makes his pt. get in 70 gm protein daily and 64 oz of fld. (whi*****luded the protein fluids). I have a hard time drinking that much fluid. I've never been good on taking in fluids. My surgery is scheduled for 3/19 and I plan is to sip proteins all day with a goal of 70 gm. Protein and hopefully a total of 64 oz. of fluid. Good luck to you. PrayUSA

Thanks for the prayer. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Think of me on Monday. Tomorrow, Wed. 3/14, 15, 16, my husband and I are going with our church adult group to Gatlinburg. That'll make the time go by quickly. Thanks again for the prayer. God bless you too. PrayUSA

I do drink these on occasion... I usually use them on days when my protein intake is a bit below par. I generally pour half of one over ice and drink it and then drink the other half the next day to get 20 extra grams of protein each of the two days. If you live within driving range of Charleston, WV, the GNC on corridor G (Dudley Farms Plaza, phone is 746-0792) gives gastric bypass patients a 20% discount off protein and vitamin items every day they are open! Makes those drinks $2.80 per bottle. Lea 410/279/175?

Lea, thanks for the info. I know they are kind of pricey. Do they count as water intake too? If so you can kill two birds with one stone. I can't imagine how difficult this is going to be to try to get in 64 oz of water and at least 60 of protein.

It is up to you! Most post-ops I have chatted with count ANY liquid they consume including the liquid used to mix up protein shakes as well as the liquid base in soups (broth or water). I only count clear liquids, so I count the Isopure Zero Carb because it IS a clear liquid. I don't count the water or milk used to make a protein drink, but I very rarely (maybe once a month) drink those! I also don't usually count the milk I put on the bowl or two of cereal I have each week. That is my choice though... I know other post-ops who DO count it! If you are really concerned, ask your surgeon which liquids you can count! Lea
