I have a friend who is getting ready for WLS and she lives in Martinsburg. If anyone can help me with some dates, times, and directions for support groups close to her, I would appreciate it. She joined me tonight at our group in Fredericksburg, VA, and we want her to continue to come, but she needs something closer to home! Thank you ever so much for your help. I do not know of any support groups near Martinsburg. Both my wife and I have had GBS last year and are doing very well. Our surgery was done at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. We live in Berkeley Springs and would be happy to provide some support based upon our experiences. We have absolutely no regrets about the surgery. It has been a blessing. Between the two of us we have lost over 250 pounds. Curt

I live in Martinsburg too, I would love to find a local support group, but there is not one to my knowledge. My surgeon has them but that is a two hour drive for me and not feasible. Where is she having her surgery done?

I also live in Martinsburg and I am in the process of getting approved for surgery. I travel 2 hours to Baltimore for support group meetings ( at the hospital I am going through) what a haul! Perhaps there are more us us in the area hiding out? I hear that Winchester, VA has a group ( not that far) but I don't have the details.

Hey gang! I've been to Martinsburg, but it's about 4 hours from home for me! We were there for state level softball tournaments... It sounds to me like you guys need to hook up and start your own support group in Martinsburg! You've already got a core group right here! I just found out (as I'm in the progress of establishing a group myself) that Obesity Help offers support group leader training. I'm an experienced support group leader (in ADHD, not WLS), so I pretty much know the groundwork that I'll have to do to get this show rolling, but it is nice to know that there is help out there provided by experienced OH leaders! Click on the Support Groups link in the page header and see what you can see! Hugs, Lea
