I am preop and on my liquid diet. How do you not want to eat when you have to cook for your family? It was extra hard for me today for some reason and after a week of this diet I am biting everyones head off! Help!

Donna: This is normal. I am 5 weeks out (9-19-06). I too cook for my spouse and know what you mean. It gets easier. Anytime you diet you can get moody and bite everyone heads off. Especially if you are used to caffeine and have stopped drinking coffee or pop. It is a big adjustment, but in the long run it is worth it. Think of this as the beginning of your new life. I keep telling myself anything worth while is usually not easy and that keeps me going. Some people set goals for themselves. For me, my goal was better health. I can tell you I am down 40-50 lbs. and I already can breathe better, am walking more and just feel better. Hang in there. Peggy M

Thanks Peggy, at least I know I am not alone. My husband hasn't been feeling well, and is extra sensitive to my moods. I am on day 10 of my liquid diet and forgot this was PMS week also! So, I am so moody! I had made this decision in 1999, but it has taken until now to get insurance approval. I have 60 days to get it done without starting all over again, and my surgeon hasn't given me a date yet. So, you can imagine the stress in my house right now!;)

Hang in there Donna, the rainbow is in sight. I am in the Charleston area and scheduled for Nov. 14th. Have you got a date yet?

Good Luck Christy. If you are going to be at Womens and Childrens, you really can't be anywhere where they will treat you any better. That's where I was. I can't say enough good things about the care I received there. Peggy M

Thanks Peggy. I chose Womens & Childrens over and above the hospital I work for due to the excellent care I received there after my hysterectomy last year. I finally decided as I was tooooooo nervous to have my surgery anywhere else. Christy

Donna: Who is doing your surgery? I wouldn't worry about the 60 days. I am sure that the doctor will make sure you get your surgery down in the time limit. My surgery was 2 weeks after i got approval. My husband tells everyone that I am doing this and have been dieting since July and he has lost 30 lbs. I guess I changed so many of my habits and even the way I cooked that he lost weight. Plus it could be the fact that since I wasn't eating all the junk, he didn't get all the junk. Peg
