Topic: RE: How Can I Help
One of the things my husband does for me is he brings me my vitamins every morning and night. He doesn't set them beside me, he hands them to me with a glass of water. He has been doing this for me for many years. It's just one of the ways he shows me he loves me.

He is always there to listen to me without judgment.

Your wife sounds like a blessed woman to have a husband who wants to help. :-)

What we learned as I prepared for  my surgery was that relationships that are strong going into this tend to do well and get even stronger.

My doctor told me that the flintstones vitamins should never be perscribed as they are not nearly enough. I am not sure about this statement but I personally followed it. let me give you the name of someone that canpoint you in the right direction. http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/jamiecatlady5/

Hope that helps. I was able to take full size pills at 4 wks out but we are all different!

can i take both multi-vitamins at same time?? i take 2 flinstone complete chewables a day as per docs orders...its hard for me to get all of my (4) calciums in a day cuz i have to take them at least 4 hrs apart from my multis....so i figure if i take both multis in morn, i could focus on my calciums the rest of day and get last one in a bed time instead of multi...theres not enuff hrs in my day to seperate the vitamins properly....thanku friends!!and also does anyone know when i can start taking normal multis (not childrens chewables) that i can swallow, im sick of the nasty tasting kids vitamins, its funny when i was little i loved them, now they are yucky lol...im sure the taste has changed over the yrs....oh i am 6 mths out on feb. 25th....

Topic: RE: Sharing weight with spouse
I guess I'm abnormal.  I told my hubby when I first met him how much I weighed (168)...and I not only tell him how much I weigh now, I get on the scale in front of him.  I need him to be a part of this journey with me.  With every pound I lose, I see how proud he is of my accomplishment.  He wants me to be thinner only because I want to be thinner.  The only way I can ask him for his full support is to give him my full truth.  Opening up to him in that way allows him to open back up to me in that way (not an easy thing for Mr. Silent-butHONEY!Inevercommunicate!

Topic: RE: 3 mos post op and husband cheated
I'm so sorry for the pain that you're going through.  I just read an article about cheating a few days ago and thought I'd mention it to you.  It talked a great deal about how one a partner cheats, it usually has NOTHING to do with the other person in the relationship and everything to do with how unhappy the cheater is with themselves.  He might see you improving who you are and gaining the confidence that comes with weight loss and suddenly see's that he's not much of a prize compared to you.  Most of us have been cheated on at one time or another...and I know the pain seems unbearable.  All you can do is concentrate on you at this time...he'll have to make his own choices in life but remember...if you do leave him...know that in a year or so when he see's you again, he'll know every second of every day that he made the biggest mistake of his life in losing you.

Topic: Husband and Wife having WLS
Greetings from the land of the rising spud, otherwise known as Idaho.  I am having RNY in 13 days from know, and my wife is scheduled for the same surgery on 08 February.  Was wondering if any other married couples have had the surgery together?

Topic: RE: hubby slipping
I have tried lately to switch tactics.  I encourage healthy choices whenever I can, and I try to do it without nagging or berating.  We talk a lot about our sons health.  He is 10 and while he is not overweight, he is certainly at risk, and does have a tiny bit of a belly.  My hubby is doing the grocery shopping right now, as I am not over my surgery yet.  He has been getting a lot of fruit and I noticed a pile of protein bars he set out to take to his office.  Being a firefighter, I can imagine it is hard to stick to healthy eating at work.  They frequently eat a big family style meal there for work, and it is not always the best health wise.  But at least he is thinking about it now.  I also have tired to brag about him, and let him know.  He has lost a lot of weight, and he does look good!  I let him know that he has done something great for his health and it is worth keeping!
