Topic: Hunter's 18 month check-up
Hunter will not "officially" be 18 months until the 22nd (Thanksgiving) but his check-up went smoothly yesterday................. He got a flu shot, and I also got a flu shot..... couldn't get dad to volunteer for a shot (scaredy cat is willing to risk getting SICK!!!!)
Anyways, Hunter's weight was 20 pounds 8 ounces (in the 3 percentile for the growth chart) And he is in the 42 percentile for his height!!! He is just tall and skinny.
For the FIRST TIME the doctor did not bring up his weight issue!!!!!!!! He was full-term.... I was almost 41 weeks when I had him & he was 6 pounds 2.5 ounces. And at every appontment the doctor has said SOMETHING about his weight.... until now!!!! So, now I am happier when I walked out of the doctors office ( I KNEW that we, as parents we were doing EVERYTHING RIGHT, but as soon as we left the doctors appointments, I would feel guilt, because Hunter was skinny)
So, we have a HAPPY and HEALTHY baby who has been hitting ALL of his milestones since he was born.... But momma had a COMPLEX!!!!!!!

First, Some of you may know me and some may not. I am Marsha I had gastric bypass 6/16/03 and I had a baby boy 5/25/06 to whom as of today is close to 18 month old who at this moment is sick with a bacteria infection that he caught in daycare spent all morning in the er with him they put him on strong medication thank god hope this works. I am a stay at home mom due to health issue and my husband wanting me to be home with our son. Since having my son I went on the depo shot and I have put on 44 pounds one mainly due to going on the depo shot and the surgeon did blame a part of it on that and the opening to my stomach being stretched and this past Aug and Oct i had to have scar tissue removed from around my stomach and large bowel to which i am now on pain management. I thank the good lord for blessing with me such and amazing son and husband.
I have pictures on my profile of me, the family and of course my pride and joy.
That's about it.. Hi to all i know on here and hi to all the ones i don't.
Glad i found this board for wls parents might be very helpful for me

Topic: flu in 4 month old?
Hello everyone! I have never posted on here before but I have posted on this website many times. I have a question for all you experienced moms. Can my 4 month old get the flu? This morning he threw up, not just spit up it was accual heaving and puking. I am thinking he is starting to teeth, could this be a reason for the throwing up? He dosen't have a fever. I do have two other children but I don't remember them getting sick this soon with the flu. No one else in our family has signs of the flu, pray that they don't! Thanks in advance for any advice. Have a great day and God bless, Penni
Topic: RE: Explaining your surgery to your kids...
I'm having some issues with this very subject. My kids don't want me to get surgery. After talking to them they have lots of reasons they don't want me to. My 16 yr old son hasn't said much about it either way...not surprising! My 11 year old daughter just thinks I should exercise, eat less, etc. She knows I have done all these things only to gain back even more weight. She still don't like the surgery option one bit!! She is afraid something will go wrong during surgery or shortly after...Then my baby, 7 years old... says that "after you get skinny you won't be softy anymore" ..that means my fat rolls will be gone. She has used them as pillows all her life..she don't want to let her "pillows" go. She also told me that she didn't want me to change the way I look because then I won't look like her Mommy.. She said she loves me and wants me just the way I am. How SWEET is that?
We had some discussion as to why I wanted to have surgery and also why they did not want it. I pulled out some of my books and we logged onto OH so they could get some insight into what I'm going through. I think they understand a little better now. They still don't like it...but they are too young yet to understand just what being this obese and unhealthy really means. I only hope they never do.
I know once the date starts getting closer for me and the day of is going to be hard on us. I have made arrangements for them to come and see that I'm ok as soon as the Dr. says it's Ok for them to see me. I think that will help them, then my Mom will bring them back to my home and stay with them until I get out of the hospital.
Good luck to you!!

Topic: RE: 4 Year old behavior problems!!!
Sandra I am so sorry. I just posted a prayer on the main messageboard to your post. You are so right. Every child is God's blessing and we should be thankful even if they are misbehaving. I hope you can find relief knowing your son is in God's house now and enjoying every happiness a 4 year old can find! My heart goes out to you.
