Anyone have surgery with an infant in the home?

I am just wondering, about anyone that has had the surgery and had an infant in the house how did they do it? Was it hard not being able to pick up your child? Did you have a lot of support in your home? Where you worried if you were to pick up your child that you would get a hernia or open something after surgery? I do not have a date yet, I don't have my consultation until May and most likely not have my surgery until the end of the year. By that time my son will be 4 months away from turning 2. Thank you for all our help in advance!

HI there...What type of surgery are u having. I had lap band aug 24 2005. I know its different with the others but with mine it was not to bad. My son was 3 then now he is 4. I know he is older than yours but if your son can get on your lap by his self that helps. It can be hard at times but if u are having lap band its not long before u can pick him up. I had help from my parents after my surgery..I donno what I would have done. So make sure someone will be with u to help out. Godd luck girl I am sure u will be fine. Marla

My boys were 3 & 8 months at the time of my surgery. I didn't have any restrictions as to picking them up - though I did try and limit picking up my older son. My surgery was done laproscopically. I think that makes a big difference! My husband was home for a week - that was all the at home support I got (I'm a stay-at-home mom). Good luck to you! Nicole -195lbs!

I know this is really late. When I had my WLS my son was 9 months old and I couldn't pick him up for a month it was hard but I still cuddled with him in the chair and bed. My husbands couisn came and stayed with us to help for the month that I couldn't lift him. He was such a BIG help!! I did pick him up I was feeling so much better I did ok carry him but then I bent down to get something out of the dishwasher and I had the worst pain that was the last time I picked him up till my doc gave me the OK. Just be careful and listen to your body my body told me that I wasn't ready to be lifting and he was less then 20 pounds at the time. Good Luck!!! Sarah 264/175/150ish
