Topic: Who is the "light weight forum" for?

Hi

Just looking at the Obesity Help site and saw that there is a light weight forum. Who is this for?

I'm thinking it might be for those who had under a certain amount to weigh?

Let me know!

Thanks

Topic: New to this group

Hi

I've been on Obesity Help for awhile now but have been mainly inactive. I just saw your group and thought it fit me well to join since I really need all the support I can get.

My surgery was 9/11/2017 at 212 lbs, lowest weight 144, cw 162. I'm trying to lose 12 lbs by no later than July 1st.

I'm not a self motivating kind of person which works against me in these situations. Don't get me wrong, I try, but I lose steam quickly! The stamina and endurance for maintaining my enthusiasm is weak! That's why I need support!

In order to go gently on myself, I've planned on losing 1 lb a week ( you would think I could do that right?!) only if my body cooperates. I take several medications that cause weight gain and I'm postmenopausal, which all makes losing weight harder according to my surgeon. It's kind of disheartening but what can I do, I can't stop my medications or change them. My health is not in danger due to my current weight, but I have other medical conditions that require medication.

All that said, I exercise about 5 times a week already and log my food, so I don't think anything would change in that area. I just need to drink more water, and cut down more on my calories. I thought I never have to count calories again after surgery, but here I am!

God Willing, I can lose these 12 lbs.

I appreciate your support.

Topic: Glad to be back.

Hi, my name is Debbie. I had RNY 14 yrs ago, in all I have regained 20 pounds. They told me that could happen,I did manage to keep it off for sometime. I let life get in the way and stopped taking care of me.

My family doesn't think it is such a big deal. I worry that it will not stop and be back where I started.

Why is it so easy to loose but to maintain is where the hard work comes in. Thanks for listening, l am looking forward to reading this board.

Since I wrote the above, I have started to work on me again, not just taking care of others. 20 lbs regain may not sound like much, and yes, I know they tell us that can happen. To me I was worried it would snowball. I never want to loose control of my health. So my answer is Paleo and it seems to be working for me. The RNY life is not like anything I know of. I have tried many of the suggestions my nutritionist suggested, but just didn't work for me. I felt like I was in no mans land...and scared.

Truly this is a journey not a marathon. God bless.

Hi Roz! Thanks for checking in with me. I'm two months out and doing really well. I've lost a total of 44 pounds and have 26 more to lose before I reach my goal. Solids are going well and the constipation I was struggling with has resolved now that I've added in Benefiber and a flax/chia/hemp seed blend. I have discovered my body's "please don't take another bite" signal and have been focusing on slowing my eating so that I don't miss it. There have been some minor challenges here and there, but my main focus is changing my relationship with food. My husband is a great support and it's great to see that I'm not the only one who looks to my faith for guidance!

Blessings,

Jen

My goal is to no longer allow food to be detrimental to my health and well-being, but rather learn to utilize food to enhance it!

Topic: Just Checking in with the Lightweights

Every once in awhile I check in to see if some of my "old" Friends check in. Send me a message if you ever do!!!! I miss you all!!!!

I'm doing pretty good. Really no problem with my weight at all. I've held steady around 119-121 for years now. Still wearing the same dress pants I bought 10 years ago. I get them dry cleaned and they still look nice. My belly and legs are still in bad shape as far as loose skin goes but I just can't see at 65 getting it taken care of. I look fine when I'm fully dressed..... A friend just had an RNY done. I told her about it years ago but the time just wasn't right for her then. . Her daughter's getting married very soon and I can't wait to see the pictures of her in her Mother of the Bride dress. I'm really happy for her.

Family Wise: Our 3 daughters, 3 sons-in-laws and 9 grandkids are doing great. My daughters opened up their own All-Star Cheer Gym after being somewhere else for 17 years. On their 1st year anniversary in Dec. they had about 250 kids who were itching to compete at the first competition. They just competed with 11 teams at a local competition and took 11 first places plus specialty awards.

My hubby has had some heart attacks and got a pacemaker last summer. In a couple of weeks he's going back in for an Ablation for Afib. We have pretty good Drs. in Pittsburgh that we trust to keep him ticking.

Well DH (Darling Hubby) is headed to bed so I better finish up here. He's retired but I still work and I have to get up early in the morning.

LOVE my Lightweights!!!!
