Dear HO,
I have just now read some of your posts and I hope your surgery goes well and is a success.
Now to the part you might not like .... It is you HO who is getting surgery and will be responsible for all that you take in. I have yet had anyone force me to smoke, drink or eat anything that I did't want or agree to do so. no one will stop you from doing those things either. My ex-wife and I were smokers and bar drinkers but when my son was born I stopped smoking and going to bars. She continued those behaviors and so now she is my ex.as she wanted a partner to do those things with. I still don't smoke and drink very little as I for some reason get very drunk very fast now. My ex wife's behavior on those points was not my responsibility but I chose not to live with it. Your husband may well feel that you were his partner in fast food, maybe he feels bad about himself as well. Or maybe you are totally correct about him. As my Pastor would say abou****ching those shows is that everyone loves seeing a train wreck and then tell everyone how bad it was and who was at fault and why.
Trying to figure out the train wreck you saw on TV or around town is folly... How those people afford to live like that is mere conjecture and probably creative in how it is achieved. Poor folks have cell phones too ...my son does and years ago had no job and a cell phone but yet he a decade later is still on my plan. WLS is a tool to use and how you use it will be on you and no one else. If you take control of it and own it then the worry about blame will go away I hope you will be a friend as I feel nothing but respect that you want to get control. My prayers are with you and yours and the start of your new way of life next week... Jeff

Hey Roz,
I feel so bad that your hubby is in pain ... I too had my right arm in EXTREME pain and at the moment it is just a background feeling.....however rolling outa bed a few days after surgery I felt a pop in the left arm and it now feels exactly like the right with background nerve pain....doctor said I pulled a muscle...I started PT yesterday and am sore between the blades....I do pray and hope that for both of us we find relief after surgery... I had to drive once since and..had the "horse collar" on but i managed it well I think.

I feel you on the kids menu as I now order things that are small in portion or take home 1/2 or more of it. Finally got over the teachings of the clean plate club and even leave stuff uneaten. I tell the wife a lot that they serve enough food on a plate for three people. and i would gladly pay a third less for small portions...lol....must be tough at the Burgatory as I find hamburgers in almost every case just too much of everything and if the bun is great I want the whole thing but am full with a few bites because of the sleeve. But just savor the taste and move on I say.

I am looking forward to Palm Sunday! I have been in a bit of a funk since even before surgery on my neck with the pain and such I have not been studying as I should and three of my nursing home visits have passed away and I miss them very much.

You take care the both of you and I hope you have a wonderful day!.... Jeff

I don't really have a plan yet. (I know, it's after lunch already!)

I had coffee with cream and a scoop of protein. (30g)

Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs.

Lunch was mexican leftovers from last night. Chicken, chorizo, melted cheese, refried beans.

I'll have a drinkable Skyr for a snack later, and a handful of pecans at some point.

Dinner is TBD, whatever I make for the family will involve protein, I'll have the protein part.

I'm trying to keep my calories up, but I forget to eat because I stay so busy. I'm having trouble with nausea lately and I'm struggling.

Hi!

I'm moving from lurking here to posting as my WLS is only a week out!

I'm still struggling with the desire to hold food funerals! Tonight I'm cooking for a friend for the first time, and want to show off, but at the same time I know he had WLS a few years ago, so trying to cook SMART!

B- missed this but had a piece of dark chocolate

L- packed chicken but my roommate brought me a McDonalds fish sandwich which I ate without the bun, and 2 oz. of french fries, which I dipped into mayo. I know I know!!!

AS- smoked almonds

D- I'm planning on grilling a couple of chicken breasts, and serving them under steamed veggies (red and yellow bell pepper, mushrooms, snow peas) then adding a slice of low-fat cheese on top and melting it under the broiler. Not fancy but it will look pretty! I'm also going to roast some cauliflower and broccoli and toss it with some horseradish sauce (LF yogurt and grated horseradish).

Topic: I'm still here..

For the last several weeks I've been preoccupied, I'm helping my sister get her house ready. She's going to be moving back to SC after living 12 hours away for the last 8 years. I've missed her being nearby and I'm super happy she'll be just an hour drive away.

Sadly, she lost her husband to lung cancer on November 1, last year. She decided to buy a house near me and our baby sister. Her current home is in Illinois, but we live in Charleston and Columbia. The house she bought is a handyman special, since she was on a tight budget and it's smack dab in the middle of the two of us. She and I had very little outside help getting the repairs done, so it took a very long time to do even the simplest task. She paid her son-in-law to replace the roof, and another son-in-law to put in new windows. The two of them actually do those things for a living, so she got a great deal on supplies and cheap, professional labor.

We did the rest. The floor joists had to be replaced in most of the kitchen, all of the dining room, and a majority of the laundry room. If you don't know what that is, imagine the studs that run under the houses with a crawlspace. They hold up the sub-floor. So she and I ripped up the flooring, the subfloor and one by one, replaced all of the rotting joists. It was truly back-breaking work. We worked day and night, for weeks. I'm so proud of us, because when she left to go home 2 days ago, 2 of her daughters are living in the house. We got almost everything done. The only thing left to do is a small bit of painting in a few bedrooms. We replaced or repaired: 1. floor joists, 2. replaced leaking water lines, 3. subfloors, 4. about four wall studs, 5. drywall, 6. ceilings, 7. mudded and painted the drywall, 8. painted the whole house, 9. And finally installed new kitchen appliances.

Needless to say, I was too tired to worry about opening my laptop!! LOL

To be totally honest, I ate very badly during the last 4 or 5 weeks, but I did try my best to remain protein forward. I'm happy to still be 118 lbs. despite my terrible diet. Thank Goodness for the honeymoon period. I have 2 months until my surgiversary and I'm going to do my best to reach 110 lbs during that time.

I love being able to come back and read the posts, even when I'm too tired to post myself. I'll do better. :)

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Good Morning LW's!!! My hubby finally goes to see the Surgeon who did his neck fusions 5 weeks ago. He is still in a lot of pain. I can usually tell he's going to have a bad day if he is sleeping in his recliner when I wake up. He is very uncomfortable laying down.

I do get on the scale every day but the way my dress pants fit me is the real way I decide how I'm doing. Yes Carbs are soooo good and they are soooooo addicting!!! I fall into that trap every one in awhile but fortunately I come to my senses fairly quickly. I don't want anyone to ever look at me and think I'm gaining weight!!!!! I heard so many "failure" stories from relatives (mainly from my brother) before my surgery it keeps me on track and I come to my senses fairly quickly.

Protein totals seem like they should be pretty good today!!!
