Looks like it's just us today Roz. My weekend has been really awful. My heart is broken. We had to put our precious Sophie down yesterday. She turned 17 1/2 yesterday. My husband let the dogs out yesterday morning and when she came in she yelped. She had some trouble walking but we thought maybe she had hurt her leg and she would be okay. All day I kept hoping she would get better but we took her to the emergency vet. In the last month she has started going potty in the house and she never did that before.

The vet thought she had a disc problem because when he moved her head she yelped. She could be diabetic or have kidney disease but without blood work and X-rays he wouldn't know. Considering her age, we decided it was time for her to go. I think she was ready. She made no effort to get up on the table or didn't move when we held her. It was so hard to let her go but I didn't want her to suffer.

I'm still struggling with what I think is a soy allergy. I need to see an allergist.

Aren't I a Debbie Downer today!! I'll be better tomorrow.

Today:

45 calorie toast w/PB; Applegate chicken sausage (9 g) - yuk. Heard they were good but I don't like them.

Click shake (23 g)

Hamburger (no bun); Pepper Jack cheese

Not much to eat today. I really need to up my protein.

I stopped at Arby's today when I was out shopping for a Mickey Mouse suitcase for our 1yr old grandson. The Gyro (insides only) was pretty tasty. Not sure I'll get it again, it kept me full literally all day, from noon until about 8pm.

I'm battling a sinus infection. I had a prescription from the oral surgeon I hadn't filled so got it filled and started taking it yesterday. Had a really bad sore throat all night but after I got up this morning it felt a little better. I went to work but I was dragging and came home about 2:30. I took a little nap, read and played around on the Internet. I am feeling better.

Today:

Premier protein

Turkey chili; saltine crackers

Protein shake

I need some more food especially protein but nothing sounds good.

Topic: RE: Advice please - BMI of 35, 6'6" tall, 290lbs, 44 years old

I was slightly to moderately overweight in my teens/early 20's and then I gained 60lbs with my first pregnancy, had a small amount of loss and then gained 40lbs with my 2nd pregnancy. I topped out around a 44 BMI and realized I needed to do something. I lost 90lbs via calorie counting and exercise, but then I had a regain of of about 30lbs. I lost it again and regained 40lbs.

At my info session for the Bari center I had a 36.2 BMI. I requested a consult with the Nurse Practitioner and I straight up asked her if I was "barking up the wrong tree" and she told me she didn't think so. My process with the center was strange because they were focused on teaching good habits, but stressed that if I lost weight I would not qualify for the surgery anymore. I had about 8lbs when I went in that I could have lost before I was under 35. I actually gained 7lbs before my pre-op diet just trying not to lose!

I had the VSG and it's been one of the best decisions of my life. I'm 11 weeks post op and I'm no longer obese (just plain overweight!). I work the plan and work out and I actually enjoy it. I'm early yet, but I do not regret anything.

I did have feelings where I wondered what people would think of me because I wasn't "that" big, but remarkably very few people questioned my decision.
