Slow... for eight weeks, my loss is so slooooooowwww
I had my RNY on 3/29. I was about 205 the day of surgery and I dropped to 190, for a 15lb loss the first month (April). I'm on track to drop another ten pounds this month. I don't see others losing this slowly.
I feel like (historically) I lost weight faster prior to the RNY and with less of a cut in total calories. I'm probably just panicking but I just thought that the weight would come off faster with the calorie deficit alone, let alone the bypass.
I am exercising so I'm sure I'm adding a little muscle but I'm not convinced that muscle gain can explain the slow drop in my weight...
This weekend I'll take my measurements (trying to just do that once a month). I do see my (expensive, post mastectomy reconstructed from body fat) breasts shrinking, and I'm seeing my waist shrink so I know the pounds I am losing are counting... but UGH!!!! Sooooooo Slowwwwwwww!

I had 30lbs on you and my first month was higher (by 6lbs), but each month since has been 10-12lbs and then the most recent one was 8lbs. I'm a little over 20lbs from goal and guessing I'm going to see it slow even more this month.

I weighed in at work this morning and I've dropped .9 lbs since my previous week's weigh in. I've averaged 7500 steps per day, my body is sore so I know those steps have been counting :) I also have been climbing the steps at work and being very active on my weekends (helping a friend rehab a house). I can't believe it's going so slowly.
If the weight loss stage is my honeymoon, I'll totally be worse off in maintenance than I was prior to the surgery. GAHHHH!!!!

I did. I dropped my goal from 1000 calories to 500, averaging 690 for the month of May. I'm now focusing on dropping my carbs from 50 to 25. I've also significantly upped my exercise, but not in a way that would explain muscle weight gain, as it's mostly been walking. I went from 5000 steps/day goal for the post surgery month 1, to 7000/day often hitting over 10,000 a day in the past week or two. I'm also walking the steps at work, usually getting in about ten flights a work day.
Most of my steps are in the evening as I take my sister's dog for a long walk. I've been "jogging" bits and pieces but generally the pointer isn't needing to trot so I'm not sure it counts as jogging if the dog keeps walking.

That seems like an average loss rate to me. Great going - keep it up!
Thanks for the encouragement! I met with my therapist today and felt pretty ashamed to tell him I've only lost about 25lbs total for the past two months. He was very supportive and reminded me that I didn't have a number on the scale as my primary reason for having the surgery. My goal is to be healthy and fit and I'm on track for that.

Ok so...I was a lightweight WLS a WAAYY long time ago. I had the vsg in 2009, lost 114lbs...practically lived on no carbs and worked my butt off (literally) on a spin bike....and then it all slowly came back on over eight years.
I had a revision surgery to the DS on 4/10. I was the EXACT weight of 238 for both surgeries. What are the chances of that? Because I am a little bit older than I was 8 years ago, I have PCOS, and it's a revision surgery, I am going to lose at a MUCH slower rate than I did the first time.
With all of that said, I am seven weeks out today and I've only lost 12 lbs since the actual surgery. (lost some on my own dieting before surgery) Frustrating? ABSOLUTELY. But that's how it goes. What are you going to do to lose weight faster? Cut your leg off? That's crazy!
The best advice I ever got the first time around is what I'm doing this time around to stay encouraged on this journey. Keep records of your weekly weight AND your measurements. Every monday I weigh myself and I measure my bust, ribcage, waist, hips, thigh, calf, and upper arm. I have found with both of my surgeries that when the scale doesn't budge, my measurements usually do. Even though I've only lost 12 pounds since surgery, I've lost 8.5 inches overall in 7 weeks. I'll take it!
Good luck!
P.S. Be careful with lowering your calories too low. There is a point where your body might truly think you are starving and will hold on to fat storages for dear life. Find your "sweet spot". For some people that 500 calories a day for others is 1000. Same thing with carbs. Eat too few and your body (varies from person to person) for an extended amount of time and you could stall your weight. Play around with these numbers and see what works best for you.
But really, at the end of the day, you aren't that far out from surgery. Don't RNY patient lose up to two years out post surgery? It could take a few weeks for your body to readjust and then lose. Be kind to yourself.
