I miss popcorn...
Hi
I miss popcorn dearly. Is eating buttered popcorn a bad idea in general for those of us who are sleeved? My surgery date is 10/18/16.
Thanks
I love buttered popcorn too but was able to stay away from it for a year post-op. I promised myself I could have it again once I reached goal. That's the only way I could motivate myself to stay clear. Good luck!

I LOVE Popcorn!!! I had the RNY but I didn't even consider eating it until I hit goal but then I feared it would hurt going down so I waited another 6 months or so. Now I enjoy it every day but I use a Microwave Popper and a TB of oil with plain loose popcorn with no butter or flavorings to add calories.

I also waited until I reached goal to have popcorn. While losing it's best to be super strict about everything you eat.
When you rwach goal, have popcorn, with salt, but no butter. Popcorn by itself can be a fairly healthy snack. But butter will give you a zillion calories you don't need.

Pre-sleeve on another diet, I asked about popcorn. The (bariatric) doctor looked at me and said "You realize that farmers use corn to fatten up the livestock, right?" I think of that now whenever I get a popcorn craving. It is all carbs, no protein, no real food value. The kernels and hull can test your new digestive system. Yes it's 'low fat' but that doesn't make it a good choice for sleevers.
