WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!!  It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Over the Hump Day!!  DH had a heart Dr. appt. today.  Didn't go well.  Blood Pressure and Cholesterol were high.  He added and changed his meds. He has to go for a stress test and wear a heart monitor for a few days. It's been a battle since he Retired to keep him away from McDonalds and the Donut Shop.   He gets me sooooo worked up.....I'm Fighting the Chocolate cravings!!!!!  Maybe after seeing the Dr. he will listen to me!

hahaha....SOME of the foods is the magic word.  My DH will stop at McDonalds even after he just had a couple of cream puffs or donuts.  He is a sweet and grease aholic!     Since he retired he lives on his golf cart.  He even drives it across the yard to the burn barrel.  His weight has stayed the same which is already overweight. We talked last night but I'm not sure it did any good.  I'm not going to hound him but I am going to try and cook healthier and try to cut down on bringing home fast food and extra things from the grocery store. That will be a plus for me too!

Sounds Good!

My DH is pretty good if I am home to cook, other than a beer with dinner every night.  However, when I am gone, he eats out and it usually contains a lot of white sugar, flour and fat.

My DH will only cook eggs or on the grill (which he hates doing) I'm going to try and do better with my cooking.  I need to plan better instead of grabbing something fast after work because I'm tired. I see a lot of crock pot meals in the horizon.

I might have asked you this before.  How do you make homemade pimento cheese?

Sounds Good!

I had a bumper crop of pimentos in the garden this year but they are kind of a pain.  You have to roast the pimentos to almost brown then let them cool.  then you skin them.  You end up with very little after all that.  Anyway, remove seeds, cut it up and add grated cheese and mayo.  Or you can buy jars of pimentos or roasted peppers and use them.  Pretty easy that way and so much better than store bought.

I'm not posting my food because I'm not proud of my choices today.  My stress level has lowered considerable from the last few weeks.  The troublemaker at my job was fired.  Without her, the other young gal is doing fine.  The new supervisor is great to work with.  My BP went back to normal.  I've got to make an appointment with my surgeon's office and get myself back to losing.

Roz, sorry to hear about your hubby.  My hubby has many health issues, one of them being severe acid reflux.  His stomach doesn't empty as it should so he is supposed to follow a low fiber diet.  It's very restricted and he did follow it for awhile, but then he started feeling good, no tummy problems and went back to eating all those things he wasn't supposed to have.  He suffered for several days until he got back on the plan.

I'm sure you've explained why you buy the gluten free almond nut bars, but please tell me again.  I have had them and like them, but wonder what the difference between the gluten free and the regular NV bars.

Maybe tomorrow I'll post what I really eat.  :)

I don't buy them because they are Gluten Free.  I use that as a way of knowing those are the ones I like because they are all Nuts and Seeds.  I haven't tried any of the others.  I didn't want anything that has a layer of unwanted carbs that is suppose to taste like a brownie or cake. If you try one you like that doesn't have any added layers let me know.

I'm glad things are going better at work!!  We are short handed at work but a new girl is suppose to start on Monday.  The last girl they hired a couple of months ago is pretty much just taking up space.  She does a good job when you hand deliver something to her that needs to be done but she has no problem sitting at her desk all day long doing nothing.

DH has been slipping with his pills since he retired.  Hopefully he takes them more seriously now.

Just try sticking to "good" eating a day at a time.  YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

Hi Roz, I'm so disappointed at myself. Yes Bad Carbs does get the scale climbing. I've gained 15 lbs from my goal weight. It's been 7 years now since my surgery and I am trying to get back to my comfort weight of 125. Even thou my goal weight is 130 I find myself more comfortable at 125. I wanted to go back again in time to shock my pouch. My question to you is should I go back to drinking protein shake again?

Thank you,

Lani

Sorry you gained some of your weight back!!  It is possible to get it back off!!!!  I would definitely start drinking shakes again! Buy GOOD Whey Protein!   I drank 4 a day while I was losing and still drink 2 to Maintain.   Up your Protein every meal and definitely cut out the carbs.  Eating small numerous meals works best for me but do what works best for you.

Were you an exerciser during the losing stage and stopped?  If you were you might have to do that again.  I don't exercise.  I made that decision early out because I knew I'd never stick to it.

If you would start a new post on the LW Board you might get some good advice from others who have fought the battle of regain.

Keep me posted!!!
