So, sometimes there are people who have a list of their monthly losses in their signature.  It's almost always like 20+ pounds in the first two or three months.

Now, I KNOW I will not lose anything close to that, but I'm curious. Coming from you lightweights, how long did it take to lose your excess weight? Was it bigger amounts in the first few months, or just small amounts over the entire honeymoon period?

I know everyone loses differently, I'm just curious how WLS affected you guys.

I had everything I wanted off in 6 months (70 pounds)...then lost another 20!  Have maintained that for the past 8 months!  It's still a daily challenge, but so worth all of the effort!  Best of luck to you!

I started a little slow, but lost 150lbs in 9 months. You should expect to lose between 10 to 20 lbs a months the first few months, then it slows down but you still lose weight for up to 19 months.

I switched to maintenance mode at 9 months out, although your really still transitioning thru a major physiological body change for about 2 years.

I definitely lost more in the beginning then slowed down around 5 months.  I kept adjusting my goal down.  I ended up losing about 110 in around a year.  I kept going until my body was where it wanted to stop because bounce back it very real.

i lost most of my weight by about 10 months.  so for the last 4 months i have stayed in the same 5 pound range.  remember to measure every month also so when you are not seeing it on the scale it shows in your measurements.

good luck to you.

10 Months is not that long to loose so don't give up and think you are on Maintenance.  Unless you think you are too thin you probably aren't ready for Maintenance. Increase your GOOD Protein for a week or so and then drop back down.  That might get you started again.

hi Roz,

I am wondering if i can get down a bit more but really have not stayed down for a couple of months now.  I did see my surgeon in april i was 123 when i saw her.  she said stop losing weight.  I know she is only the surgeon and i would like to get down to 115 but i could share some of my menus and i am not sure where to cut any more.

breakfast 4 oz ahi tuna

snack  3 oz low sodium ham

lunch 3 oz ham, 1 slice cheese, 2 mushrooms and 1 slice of pepper

dinner  3 oz grilled chicken, 3 tablespoons of cauliflower, 1/3 cup of corn

snack from today:  perfect protein bar.  300 calories, 18 grams of protein, 22 carbs

for the day  928 calories, 43 carbs, 91 grams of protein

i also swam for 45 mins today, and worked out with a trainer for an hour, plus 5 miles on the fitbit.

I've tried looking back to my profile page because I thought I had a losing chart but I couldn't find it.  I did find my pictures so I guessed by the seasons. I was down 35 pounds @ 2 months, 78 @ 8 months, 85 @ a year, and 97 @ about 15 months.

I decided on my own that was too low for me so I started Maintenance ON MY OWN time.  Boy I regret that!!!  First off 3 more pounds and I would have been at 100 pounds loss and I could have gotten my Gold Apple in my signature....I am sooo jealous of those!

Once I added to my menu I gradually gained until I was up to a range of 118-120 which I maintained for quite awhile.   I was there until right before my bowel obstruction which caused me to go up to 125/126 and since my surgery I have settled at 116.  So far 116 has been easy to maintain.  I'm hoping I stay here for awhile.

Don't rush starting into Maintenance!!!   Let your body go as low as it wants to.  Everyone tells me you know when that is.  Don't stop because of the calendar and how many months you out. It's not true for some of us lightweights that the honeymoon period is over in a year!!!!

The most important thing is......DON'T DECIDE TO STOP BY ADDING CARBS IN!!!!

Hi... lykapal,

it took me about a year.... and still battling, food addiction... but my pouch keeps me honest... and I have dumping that reminds me that I am stupid sometimes...

I look at the size of my clothes.. not the scale... the scale causes me to be depressed... ..

I have the knowledge and tools.. to survive.
