Straws
I was told no straws too. I am such a "rule follower" that I did no straws and didn't think much about it. Have never been a straw user so it wasn't a big deal. By 7 months, I imagine you would be fine.

I was too no straws as well Price and I am such a rule follower. Lol
My friend was pressuring me to just do it. I've also noticed thigh she is drinking soda, rushed through food stages, and has not had any follow up with her doctor either so I don't know. So I guess each program and doctor is different. I'm sticking to no straws.

I've never heard of a Dr who approved soda, lol. Seems like your friend is pushing the envelop and I wouldn't be surprised if she is one of the WLS failures at some point. Why go through all this if you aren't going to change so it will last. As I have said over and over, you can out eat any surgery!!!!

I agree.
I try and share what I have learned and still learning. She chose a program with little to no follow up so I'm encouraging her to seek out a NUT and stay on track.
The straw is blowing my mind though looking at IG accounts and Blogs there are so many people drinking their iced coffee out of straws and drinking sugar free energy drinks. Wondering if maybe if I missed something. For now I'll stick to why has been successful for me.

I had the RNY and I was also told no straws. I'm also a rule follower but I was struggling getting my liquids in. I had a terrible time swallowing. It made my glands hurt. I talked to my surgeon and he told me to go ahead and use one. He said he never could figure out why they made up such a rule and saw nothing wrong with using a straw. He was more concerned about me not getting fluids in then he was about me getting to much air in my pouch. It helped tremendously and I had no complications. As for soda/pop that's a NO NO!!

I had RNY as welll and thought maybe because she had the sleeve it was different. As for now I will still not use a straw, but good to know from a VET that I could if I wanted.
Also, she is asking for it with that SODA...Not good!!!
Thanks
