One more box checked
I just got home from a great appointment with my nutritionist -- 3 of 4 done! One more appointment with Miss Jillian and I proceed to scheduling and assuring clearances are met. She told me today that she'd seen enough from me that she'd already cleared me. BUT - She told me something crazy today... did you know that some people are NOT cleared by their nutritionist for surgery??? WHY?! I just don't understand why someone would even begin this process if they weren't willing to follow the rules and do the work.
There have been quite a few days where I'm getting too much protein? I didn't think it was possible, but okay. I'm making adjustments. I'm supposed to just continue to do what I'm doing, just have a few less grams of protein per meal so that I can have room for a daily protein shake. I also don't get enough fruit. since when I'm full I skip the fruit she wants me to eat each day.... okay. I'm not sure I'll force myself to eat fruit just because she wants to see it in my logs. Most days my calories are low, but I assured her that I haven't been hungry at all, I'm just not full-sized like most of her patients and I'm eating 4 times a day like she asked.
In two months I've lost 5.5 lbs (I wasn't asked to lose weight, just eat according to plan) and of those, 4.0 lbs were fat. BMI went from 36.8 to 35.6 -- yay!
After I see Jillian on April 29, I go next door to discuss insurance compliance for submission and schedule all of my pre-op classes and final surgeon pre-op appointment.

It does seem like a never ending process. We had lots of hurdles to jump through that I swear were just to see if we were going to be compliant. I absolutely agree about why would anyone do all this but a friend in another city has RNY a few years ago, and has already gained back about 30lbs. REALLY. I understand over time it creeps back but she did it in a very short time. You can out eat any surgery.
You are doing great. It really will happen for you.

I can't understand why anyone would put themselves through this either and then not take it seriously. Maybe they think this is the easy way out but for most of us it isn't and it takes being consistent every single day. Always mindful of what we put in our mouths. I felt (and still feel) it was easy for me because I followed the rules and I feel very successful.
My insurance required me to loose every single month for my 6 month wait period or they wouldn't approve me so that might be why they were turned down but I also was told not to loose to much or they might say I didn't need the WLS because I was capable of losing it on my own. I only lost 1 pound per month for a total of 6 pounds.
After you have your RNY you can have all of the Protein you want. We recommend over 100 grams per month and the majority of that should come from Good Whey Protein shakes. Fruit should be limited. It has too much sugar which could make you "Dump" but it also slows down weight loss and the closer to Maintenance you get you will gain weight.
The first few months I struggled getting food and Protein drinks in but that stage passed and I drank 4 Protein shakes a day which totaled a little over 100 grams of Protein and then I based all of my meals on Protein. I never counted Proteins or calories as long as I got my 4 shakes in because I knew I wa****ting my goal.
I can't wait to share in this journey with !!

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
