Newbie
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking as a guest for a while but finally registered today....
I had VSG on Nov 10/15. Still in some pain and tired most of the time - and apparently my days and nights are flipped (it's 3am and I've been awake for 3hrs, unable to fall asleep).
I only just reached BMI 40.8 preop, with sleep apnea. I live in Ottawa, Canada, and the rules for bariatric surgery here are BMI 35 with comorbidities (wl clinic MD was always forgetting about the sleep apnea) or BMI 40.
Anyway, I'm saying hello to all and hoping to get close to my target fluids on Nov 13. I'm finding that challenging, I get gas pains after every (sipped) drink I take. Plan on going for a walk outside the house tomorrow, but very close just in case.
Welcome those first few days and weeks are tough!!! You will get better each and every day.
Walking does help with the gas pains. Most drs will allow gax-x and it comes in a strip that dissolves. You just have to sip, sip, sip. I found warm or room temp was much better than cold and plain water was good or warm herbal tea.
Fluid is most important, then protein. And your protein suppliments count as both, hurray.
Hang in there and stay in touch. We have been there and are here for you.
