Its finally pumpkin season ! Im digging up the sweet potatoes and organic red white and blue potatoes ( as well as buttery-tasting German fingerlings ... enjoying the last of the fresh roasted sweet corn... loving kale and broccoli which for the first time since surgery five years ago stopped giving me gas ( thank God) .

I keep telling myself Im going to to hire a mushroom expert to identify what I am sure are many types of edible wild mushrooms growing on my property .

I feel very fortunate that though life can be hard and depressing and frustrating ... to which I still ( regrettably ) respond by refusingn to exercise and eating way too much for comfort rather than from hunger .. that despite this childish and indulgent behavior I dont end up wearing the results ( maybe a tiny bit) . Eventually I do peek out f my self-made cave and appreciate natures beauty and my own good health and go out and enjoy the weather ...

Over the years Ive become more familiar with my body and comfortable with the fact that I feel best as a semi vegetarian. In my latest two-week " depression" during which I refused to go to the grocery store even once I literally ate no meat at all and maybe two small cans of fish total yet I felt absolutely fine living on potatoes, milk and rice and peas .

Go figure ...

The only thing I craved at the end of this was a bit of Wendy's chili and real cheese ( which I never eat) . The fat craving is probably due to having run out of flaxseed oil and evening primrose oil supplements .

I agree with Susan Sommers' theories regarding food combining for weight loss ( based on personal experience ) ... so I did eat real brie ... quite a bit of it for supper but without bread . The idea is to eat fat and carbs at least two hours apart ... in my experience it works.

I'm eating Kale and collards and chard from the garden and the last of the lettuce. The Kale and collards should last well into winter if not all the way to spring. I have a box of butternut squash in storage for winter. I love bean soups and cold weather foods.
