Intestinal pain for 7 days
Hi guys,
I am going on 8 weeks post surgery. I have done very well. The last 7 days I have had the worst intestinal pain and diarrhea. I called the doctor and they told me to continue to drink fluids and if it persists or gets worse they'll have me come in. I get sick at the thought of eating or even taking my supplements. Has anyone had this type of pain? Is it normal to go through bouts with diarrhea? What should I try to eat. I am still losing , in fact I am losing a lot of weight but I'm nervous. Want to make sure I'm doing whats right. My NUT gave me a few suggestions but I was wondering if anyone else had this experience early in their journey?

I feel sooooo bad you are going through this!!! I don't remember reading about anyone else on our LW site who had this problem after WLS either.
I did have to get my gall bladder out several years after surgery which seems to be the norm. The pain was terrible if I ate even the littlest bite of grease.
Please be insistant at with your Dr. That's a long time to have pain and diarrhea.
Roz
God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Well the doctor checked me out, and everything is good. He did put me back on an all liquid diet for the next few days. I will be going back in a week. He thinks I just had something I wasn't quite ready to eat and my body reacted this way. How crazy that today was the first "normal" feeling day I've had in over a week (always feel good when I get to the doctor). I showed him my food journal and he says I'm doing well, but need to pay attention to how the food makes me feel when I eat it. If I get any sort or irritation or feel any kind of discomfort I should not eat again for a few weeks. I do notice chicken makes me feel icky so I just might not be ready for chicken yet. I will listen to my body!!!! And not try to rush things too much. Thanks everyone for the support. This site is really helpful, and all the Vets help with all of their advice and insight!!!!

glad you are ok but I do think you did the right thing going in. Better safe than sorry. My dr group started everyone so slowly and we had group meetings with every diet change so there were not many issues and what was got caught really quickly. So go slow and you will be fine!!!

I had the endoscopic revision September 30th and I have diarrhea about /six times a day. For a brief time I had severe gas pains and it was terrible. I still have a lot of pain in my side. I have had very little help other than meds prescribed by the PA in my surgeon's office. They told me to take Gasx soft gels four times a day. I cut the end and pour the liquid in an ounce of water. It has helped. Tomorrow I am going to see my primary care. I have more faith in her than in the gastr docs post care.
good luck to you!
