How often do you got through your closets
Hi,
I am 7 weeks out of surgery. I have lost a good amount of weight. How often do you go through your closet and dump clothes. Right now I have to toss stuff pretty much weekly. When is it safe to buys clothes even though you still have more weight to lose? Any suggestions are great.

I thin****pt all my clothes to the very end. I did buy incrementally - if I found a real good deal on pants, I'd buy several sizes of each. Otherwise thrift/consignment stores were my friend.
After I lost all my weight I had a girlfriend come over and "go shopping" in my closet. She took almost everything... and there was a LOT!
your shoe size might change too -mine did!

I kept a lot of clothes as I gained weight, so as I shrink out of the ones I'm wearing, I send them to Salvation Army and get out my smaller sizes. I've done one clean out so far at 6 weeks out. My pants are starting to feel big again but I'm holding out as long as I can. I think I'm going to make a trip to the second hand store this weekend to see what they have. I don't want to buy any good clothes until I'm at goal.
I started at 238, size18 pants and mens 2XL shirts. I am now a size 10-12 pants and womens med shirts. I was regularly putting items in a black plastic bag for the thrift store. I shop at 2 different thrift stores about 1-2 times per week. I am real fussy, and only buy what I need, either color wise, or inventory. Like 2 pairs of dress pants (size 10, size 12), 3 pairs of jeans, (size 10, 11, 12) and short sleeve (4) and long sleeve tops(3). I am getting tired of shopping and will probably go to jogging pants. I had to throw out the mens 2XL shirts so I wouldn't wear them. It was easy to put one one when the grandkids came over and wipe their nose on me :) I have to force myself to wear pink and orange and mauve and not just black and navy. I guess I still want to be invisible. I never liked to shop, and after the initial weight loss, it is a chore to get dressed and wear make-up. I have been retired 8 years and am real lazy.

Congrats!!! It sounds like you are doing Awesome!!
I foolishly spent way to much time shopping the sale racks on clothes during my honeymoon period...LOL! I donated most of my "big" girl clothes to Dress for Success and the Goodwill.
I never wanted to think about bounce back pounds so I held onto my size 2's but I think at 7 years out (next week) it's time to give them away.
I've settled in size 4's. The dress pants I wear to work/church are 5 years old. I get them dry cleaned and they still look really nice. I am obsessed with buying name brand clothes now. But usually I buy them at the end of season on the sale racks. I have a pretty full closet.

While I was losing, I kept a bag in the closet to put stuff in when it no longer fit then donated it as the bag filled up. I shopped almost entirely at thrift stores and still do a lot. I go into sticker shock at real stores. I buy name brands and have a great wardrobe for next to nothing. I did try some changes in colors and styles as I was losing, knowing I wouldn't be wearing it long if I didn't like it. Like Roz, I have given up on my smallest stuff mostly 4s but can still wear most of my 6s 5 yrs out. Now I throw out clothes not because they don't fit but because they are worn out.
