Six Years Ago
Six years ago this morning my life was being changed. I was undergoing Gastric ByPass surgery in Rome by Dr. Scott. This was one of the best decisions of my life.
My highest weight was 248.5. Yesterday morning I weighed 140.5. I actually lost down to 124 or 125 but have had some regain over the last two years. I am 5'1 1/2" tall. I would like to get back below 132 and am working on it but it is a lot slower now than it was in the beginning.
I can say that maintenance is a lot harder than actually losing the weight. Some changes I have done good with. I never drink with my meals and I have very rarely missed my vitamins.
I have done things in the last six years that I only dreamed of doing in my life. I can get in the floor and get back up without crawling to something to help me up. I have ran lots of 5K races and did the Atlanta Peachtree 10K two years. I really love walking/jogging/running. I actually enjoy being outside a lot more now than I did when I was heavier. I can play with my grandkids!!
Here is a before at my heaviest and my after is at my retirement party 6/30/2015.
One thing I can say is that staying connected to a support group of some type is vital to staying on track. I love this website and find that when I don't come on here and post and read I don't do nearly as good!
Linda
Congratulations on your success! My RNY was 7/8/2008 and my beginning weight was 246. I'm 5'2 1/2". I lost 70 lbs. and it was such an improvement over where I started I didn't forge ahead and make my original goal of 140. I have regained 12-14 lbs. (depends on the day) and I'm struggling to lose those lbs. I would really like to lost another 20 lbs.
I never drink with meals and for 30 minutes after. It's actually painful if I drink, even, a sip, with a meal. I also always take my vitamins, get in my protein and drink my water. I try to eat low carb, high protein but it doesn't seem to matter what I eat. The extra lbs. just won't go away.
Coming here is a great help.
