Menus and Miles Tuesday June 16th
We have sunshine right now but it's suppose to start again soon. DH says our electric still isn't on. He is debating whether he should move our new lumber into the garage. I was think he should have had them put it there to begin with.
Sorry your stomach got upset. Hopefully it wasn't the Protein.

First off let me say how excited I am to finally be able to post on Menus and Miles. I couldn't see the point before when I was on liquids and pureed food but now I got the go ahead from my nutritionist and doctor for all foods as tolerated, except of course simple carbs. My DH is on a 5-day golf trip so this week will be easy and probably several days repeated. I'm still learning and some things that were ok before surgery are not so good now. I definitely need to measure out what I'm eating and eat slower but it is hard to make 1/3c last for 30 minutes even chewing the heck out of it. Trial and error but I'm learning. So here is today.
Breakfast: Starbucks classic oatmeal, Iced decaf SF skinny vanilla latte, I added Click vanilla latte to up my protein
Lunch: 1/3c Rotisserie chicken salad (Costco)
Dinner: Cilantro lime Shrimp (Costco) - probably 3 or 4 shrimp
Snack: SF popsicle
My nutritionist frowns on a snack while losing but the popsicle for some reason helps calm my queasy tummy. I think I dumped on the oatmeal, not horribly but enough to send me rushing to the bathroom and not feeling so great for a couple of hours afterward. I think it was the brown sugar and dried fruit. Lesson learned. I also think I'll try the Click without the added Starbucks latte might be too much. I just received my sample pack of Syntrax Nector and a Click Vanilla Latte, Caramel and Mocha so I'm going to add those in over the next few days too.
Carpe Diem!

Congrats on your Surgery!! Glad you are joining us on M&M!!
Please don't feel like I am attacking you on your first post but I have to be honest...I'm very surprised you are eating Oatmeal, Brown Sugar and dried fruit this early out. It still makes me dump after 6+ years. It was probably instant oatmeal which is worse than real Oatmeal. Starting the day out with all those carbs and sugars makes me want to cringe....LOL.
How much Protein was in the click? I'm sure your Surgeons office told you how many Protein to try to get in during the day and it was probably pretty low. I wouldn't doubt if you need twice or even 3 times as much as they mentioned.
I eat snacks all day long!! Every snack has some kind of protein in it. I don't snack on carbs unless it's a special treat that I have planned or my willpower is very low. I did eat SF Popsicles early out but they seem to upset my stomach now so I gave them up but I don't see anything wrong with them as long as you are getting "Good" Protein in.

No offense taken. I have learned so much before and after surgery and really value everyone's input. I have to admit I blindly added the brown sugar and fruit and didn't think about it. Pre-surgery it was a go-to breakfast when I hadn't planned ahead. It wasn't until I had to scurry to the bathroom that I put two and two together. I will be going back to my egg frittata for breakfast.
The sample pack of Click has 15g of protein, but further reading on their website it is casein and not whey isolate and whey isolate is what the nutritionist was saying to look for. Not sure what the difference is. My surgeon set a goal of 65-75g of protein which I have been able to meet. All my meals are planned around protein (except this morning) I will definitely be going back to protein for breakfast. I'll be cringing with you on the carbs & sugar. I do miss fruit and it's allowed on my plan but I want to make the most of my honeymoon period so if I do have fruit it's 1 or 2 small pieces just enough to get the fresh taste. Summer in California means hot weather and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Some Dr groups are strictly 3 meals a day and that is it. I am happy that mine was small meals every 3 hours and they recommend that forever. I'm a big one for telling folks to stick to their plan but I sure am glad my plan included snacks and protein suppliments, LOL.

I agree with Roz on the oatmeal. You might want to check the stats on that. I sometimes have Weight Control instant oatmeal, but I'm 7 years out. Please don't take offense. I mean to offer info to help. I love Click and I've using 1 scoop of Click and 1 scoop of Syntrax Cappuccino. Click isn't very high in protein and has some carbs. The Syntrax boosts the protein. My favorite Click is the Mocha and the decaf.

I'm happy for the advice. Everyone here has always been supportive and helpful. Because of a flat tire this morning and not planning last night the oatmeal was a blind choice from pre-surgery days not thinking about the brown sugar and dried fruit until I left my desk and scurried to the bathroom. Do you mix the Click and Syntrax in a blender or shaker bottle? I wanted to experiment making a frappe by adding some ice to the blender. I tried the Vanilla Latte Click today and really liked it. Tomorrow I'm going to fix the Mocha. I order the sample packs to see if I would like them. Oatmeal is definitely off the menu for a long while!
