Hello to all of our Lightweights!!! If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!! Besides my tool, I count Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!
WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.
I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! I have IC (Irritable Bladder Syndrome) and I can only have them while I'm not having a flare up. It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!
Afternoon LW's!!! I had a lot going on this morning and I forgot my Protein Drink at home....! It makes me so mad!!! The lumber man came, the electric was off and I had to ask the township man who was cutting grass (in the rain) to unhook my garage door and put it up for me. I would have had to go to work late if he hadn't have been around just when I needed him.
Maintenance: 6+ years out and started the new year right on target!!!
Breakfast: 2 cheese sticks
Protein: Matrix Chocolate Mint 35g (have it later)
Lunch: Salad with extra Protein (boiled egg, bacon, cheese)
Snack: Small piece of Ham
Snack: 1 Lite Swiss Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge and 6 Saltines
Dinner: I think a Small Wendy's Chili
Snack: Nature Valley Almond Crunch Bar--YUM!! (ONLY buy the Gluten Free)
Snack: 3 TB. of unpopped Popcorn (didn't start this until I was on Maintenance)

Rain, rain, rain....that's the forecast for Kansas City. May had 4 rain free days and looks June may be the same. We lost some plants due to too much rain. We bought some more but it's too wet for DH to plant.
I'm still enjoying being at home. I have a pre-op appointment this afternoon for my cataract surgery next Tuesday. My co-pay of $475 has to be paid today. Guess they're afraid they won't get paid if you wait until the ay of. I'm anxious to get it done so I can see better, but dreading the actual surgery.
The scale just isn't moving down. Grrrrr. I really need to see my surgeon and his team to get back on track. Do I do low carb, no carb, how many carbs, how many calories??? The fact that most patients regain 20% of their loss isn't acceptable.
A home health nurse met with us yesterday to discuss DH's new eating plan. The list the doctor gave him is really confusing. It is for diverticulitis. We thought it was for acid reflux. The nurse helped define what he should and should not eat. No more gravy so there goes biscuits and gravy, a huge favorite. However, I can make gravy that isn't high fat. He doesn't make good choices when we eat out.
Today's eats:
B: Click/Sytrax shake
L: Laughing Cow (2); Melba rounds; salad
S: Protein bar
D: Canadian bacon; ??
S: ??

My Mom did really well with her cataract surgery and she was in her 70's. It was amazing how well she could read afterwards.
I've gained 20% back but I went down really low. I think a lot stop before their bodies are ready to quit and try to do Maintenance to early. I've been at a Normal BMI for about 4 years and never strayed out of it. As long as I base my meals on Protein I really don't have a problem. I try really hard to limit starchy carbs. I also don't over do the fruit because of natural sugar.
I weigh myself every single morning and then I know how strict I have to be. I have a range of 3 lbs that I try to stay in.
DH has Diverticulitis but he won't stick with any diet.
Sounds Good!

Roz, I really admire your dedication to your food plan. After the first year my weight loss stopped and instead of making more effort to continue losing another 20 lbs., I maintained the 70 lbs. loss until the last year. I was really happy with where I was, but truthfully, I should have lost another 20 lbs. Shopping in the Misses department, crossing my legs and being off most of the meds was such a great feeling. Now, 7 years have passed and I've had some regain. I'm really wanting to lose the regain and another 20 lbs.

Hi Roz,
I'm probably not worth 2 cents at work anymore. DD is out for her summer break so she is coming to town and hanging out with me-she is suppose to be packing some things at my house this afternoon. We left for an early lunch today and went and had manicures and pedicures(3 hour lunch!) Yesterday we did some shopping-another 3 hour lunch. I should probably be fired before I retire... I am off Thursday, Friday & next Monday. Our internet won't be connected until Monday afternoon so y'all won't see me until next week after tomorrow. I don't know how we are going to survive without TV or Internet. Maybe I'll get most of my boxes unpacked and put up! My parents and sister are coming the next weekend for my retirement party.
